great location, the pool is amazing! Kids under 12 will LOVE the waterslide. Hotel is about a 10 minute drive from downtown Kona, 3 minute walk from Keauhou Bay where many boat tours leave, can also rent kayaks there, we ate at the Manta Ray Bar and Grill one night - a little pricey but right there at the hotel...

This was a great place to stay, clean easy to get to and the Manta Rays at night were so awesome to watch!

We stayed here for a week on vacation. The ocean front view was mostly towards the bay and square on with the volcano outside of town. We ended up with two double beds, when we requested a king. We were a little surprised that the hotel advertises free wi-fi and parking, but don't be fooled: they charge a $15 per day "resort fee." The food at the restaurants is so-so, definitely not worth the sky-high price. Breakfast is about $25 per person, and while tasty, not really worth it. The pool and grounds are lovely, and the manta ray viewing in the evenings is really neat. Seems like it'd be great for families (except all the expensive food) and we'd consider staying here again, but just make a run to the local market (or Costco) for breakfast and lunch foods.

Booking company did not tell us this hotel is under renovation, half empty, no front lobby, staff not most friendly/helpful, definitely not a 4 star; currently a 2, max 3. Walls are paper thin, you can hear door slammings all night and construction was early and loud; restaurant was empty most nights; would not be my first choice again.

First, the room, pool and view were excellent! The staff was very friendly and helpful too. They have an area for viewing Manta Rays at night, but go after the dive boats leave. As for the shortcomings, the food and drinks are seriously overpriced. The quality of the food and drinks are average at best, so you're paying for the convenience of being at the resort. Do what we did: get on Yelp and look for nice restaurants around the area (the ones we found were much better and cheaper). You will need a rental car (unless you are ok using the complimentary shuttle the hotel provides) since nothing is walking-distance from the hotel. All in all, it was a nice place. My wife and I prefer to be in an area where we can walk to a lot of places, so in that respect, we wouldn't return here. Ignoring that though, it is a beautiful place with a great pool... just BYO food and drinks.

Having just stayed at another Sheraton (Ho chi Min City, Vietnam) I had some very high expectations. As far as the hotel goes it is a very old hotel and the rooms badly need updating. However, for the value, location, view (ocean view is beautiful) and staff you can't beat it. We had a great overall stay.

Unfortunately we didn't allow ourselves ample opportunities to enjoy the resort's facilities and amenities. We were too busy enjoying the Big Island. We were at Kona to attend our daughter's wedding and we elected to stay with Sheraton. It is a magnificent place with friendly and courteous staff. Yes we will stay here again. In fact, we are already planning another trip to the Big Island.

They are doing MAJOR construction which began on Jan.3(half way into our stay) to the whole front of the hotel. This caused a very inconvenient way to enter hotel, park, get to rooms, etc., not to mention the noise. Nobody warned us of this before our trip. Go somewhere else until they are finished. Also the food at the restaurants was awful.

Good vacation spot for some quite time. However, there weren't good beaches near by. To far from shopping to go by walk. Shuttle services ($2 per person) ends at too early. Must take taxi, if you want dinner at decent hours.

On Keauhou Bay south of Kona, this resort has everything for a great family vacation. I loved watching the families having fun during the Christmas break with nary a blink from the highly professional, friendly and competent staff. I was glad that we paid extra for an ocean front room as the views were spectacular and the only noise was of the waves lightly hitting the lava rocks below our lanai. Highly recommended.

We had a great stay at this location. The staff was fantastic. Food is very expensive, $17.00 hamburger that came with potato chips.... All in all a great family location and good value.

Everything was great except the cost of food and drinks. The cost was above other 5 star hotel and resorts that I've visited. The resort fee was rediculous at $15.00 a day which included parking, internet. No happy hour at this hotel, we went to nearby hotels for this. Don't take me wrong, the hotel was in a fantastic location, the staff was very polite, and overall I like this place and will stay there again.

Absolutely beautiful property with a view of the ocean and lovely gardens to walk in. The food was excellent and the Manta Ray Bar & Grill was a perfect spot in the evenings. In close proximity to shops and other restaurants. Very quiet and relaxing.

We were not at all pleased by the cleanliness and the aesthetic of the room. It's old fashioned and it was dirty. There were stains on the carpet, the furniture smelled musty and the toilet which looked like belong to a public facility had to be flushed twice. I usually stay at a Sheraton and this experience completely surprised me. The room picture does not represent at all what we got. The location and the facility amenities were great though but the room and overall hotel just did not appear clean. We hated going back to our room after enjoy the day in the island. The hotel was nice enough to switch us to the different room but it was exactly the same with what appears to be less stain. But by the time, we just wanted to go to bed and check out the next day. So long story short, make sure when you book, they put you in the room that is recently renovated. I was told they had that but was completely booked!
