Sheraton Hotel Lima Guest Reviews
I hate to be judgmental and cliche about this, but that's what we experienced. Another want-to-be-Western hotel, charging Western prices but for developing world service. The posted room rates are in excess of $500 a day. Despite those prices, they still want to charge an extra $12 per day for Internet and $5 for a bottle of water, especially when the tap water is not potable. That's just highway robbery, even on an expense account. A ton of staff is running around trying to attend to every whim, but it's mostly just annoying, because they're not well trained, don't speak English well, and when confronted with something non-standard they're just lost. For example, we had a lot of work to do, and asked for a 2nd office chair which seemed to cause the front desk person a degree of dismay and complication that just shouldn't happen at a hotel that bills itself as 5-star international business venue. Upon leaving the hotel, there was a bouncer-type figure that insisted we check out in person at the front desk, even though we had an all pre-paid arrangement and we said so and we had a cab waiting. We ended up just walking past him, but it was another one of these annoyances that shouldn't happen at this price level. A small saving grace was that the breakfast buffet was very nice, lots of options and all were tasty. However, there, again, when we asked for a Latte, it triggered a barrage of incomprehensible fast-paced Spanish and seemed more difficult than it should be. Overall the English language proficiency of the wait staff was poor, and not what I would expect at these prices.

Overall a good hotel. A little old but close to the centre, about a kilometre to the central shops and square. the area is a little quiet and lonely at night, across a national monument. Not the highest standard experienced in a Sheraton but ok. If the rates is on offer it is worth staying.

This hotel was a god send, clean and quite (not easy to find in a big city like Lima). The staff even helped us to track down our lost luggage! We were very happy, and would reccommend to anyone!
