Sheraton Hotel Lima

I hate to be judgmental and cliche about this, but that's what we experienced. Another want-to-be-Western hotel, charging Western prices but for developing world service. The posted room rates are in excess of $500 a day. Despite those prices, they still want to charge an extra $12 per day for Internet and $5 for a bottle of water, especially when the tap water is not potable. That's just highway robbery, even on an expense account. A ton of staff is running around trying to attend to every whim, but it's mostly just annoying, because they're not well trained, don't speak English well, and when confronted with something non-standard they're just lost. For example, we had a lot of work to do, and asked for a 2nd office chair which seemed to cause the front desk person a degree of dismay and complication that just shouldn't happen at a hotel that bills itself as 5-star international business venue. Upon leaving the hotel, there was a bouncer-type figure that insisted we check out in person at the front desk, even though we had an all pre-paid arrangement and we said so and we had a cab waiting. We ended up just walking past him, but it was another one of these annoyances that shouldn't happen at this price level. A small saving grace was that the breakfast buffet was very nice, lots of options and all were tasty. However, there, again, when we asked for a Latte, it triggered a barrage of incomprehensible fast-paced Spanish and seemed more difficult than it should be. Overall the English language proficiency of the wait staff was poor, and not what I would expect at these prices.

Overall a good hotel. A little old but close to the centre, about a kilometre to the central shops and square. the area is a little quiet and lonely at night, across a national monument. Not the highest standard experienced in a Sheraton but ok. If the rates is on offer it is worth staying.

This hotel was a god send, clean and quite (not easy to find in a big city like Lima). The staff even helped us to track down our lost luggage! We were very happy, and would reccommend to anyone!

Internet access is a problem. No wireless in the rooms and LAN only via special modem (that will be installed on request). People are very friendly.

Es un hotel antiguo, en ningún caso 5 estrellas, bien ubicado; sin embargo, desde que llegas te avisan que es peligroso andar en los alrededores después de las 17.00.Yo no tuve ningún inconveniente.El casino ya no existe. Clean place, good ubication, never 5 stars. The people say that the town is very dangerous and is not save walk around.I have not troubles. Not more Casino there.

Very good and recommendable hotel. Unbelievably cheap, offers much more than takes in comparison with the other hotel of this chain in the rest of the world.

Stayed there in 2004 and found that the hotel was located at a distance from the town centre and there was not much restaurants around. Other than that, the services and the hotel conditions was excellent. Staff spoke fluent English and reacted fast to yr request. I was particularly impressed when I tried to order congree at the hotel restaurant. The chef came out to receive me and seriously took my order and sent the food to my room. After all, a very good hotel at reasonable price.

The location is not so great, but the free shuttle to Miraflores is good. Service was wonderful. Note that the pool is in the shade by early afternoon, and it is extra to use the gym.

Alough in old centro but still being safe and near plaza or walking street. Broadband in room is quiet slow but dial-up is free.

The place is in centro area and one can easily go to the more fashionable suburbs via taxi or bus service provided by Sheraton (free).lThe sheraton staff was very good and their cafeteria and other services staff very accomodating. I would like to stay there again if I get a chance.

A great value for money. The hotel doesn't look so nice on the outside, but rooms are large and clean, staff are firendly and you have all the facilities you need. There is also a very convenient free hourly shuttle to/from Miraflores. The location is good - 15 minutes walk from Plaza de Armas, but don't try to walk around this area after dark - it's not the safest place to be!

We stayed in this hotel in mid march 2006. It was an excellent hotel in every way. For the location to the condition of the room and the restaurant were all excellent. Highly recomended.

It is situated 15 minutes walk from the main square Plaza de Almas. It is not in Miraflores but there is a free return shuttle to the main shopping centre in Miraflores evey hour. I highly recommend the Dance Show Tour by Lima Vision Tours - the hotel reception can book this for you!

Albeit, the building is old, the place is very well kept. My room was quiet and well equipped. The staff was friendly and I look forward to returning soon.

They take care of everything and show you around. Plus give you good guidance on places to visit in Lima. As well as offering a shuttle to the shopping centers. overall they were efficient and went out of their way to make me feel confortable.
