Shephard's Beach Resort Clearwater Guest Reviews
We had stayed at this hotel for two nights prior. I have been in worse hotels and we were there for the beach – albeit very tiny. I was willing to put up with the noise from the club that operated until 3 AM each night. We were moved the first two nights and the third night we just wanted to be left alone and stay in the room we were in. It wasn’t any quieter – we were just done arguing with these people at the front desk about this. We booked a third night online for the following night. The next morning my wife called the front desk to let them know we were staying the extra night. They said we would have to move. (This was now Monday – very slow period for this ‘party’ hotel) My wife explained everything and told her all the problems – each time the front desk and even the manager said it was our fault – we should have known it would be loud. While I cannot mention how we booked this for some reason – let it be said that it was a blind booking initially. But we were willing to put up with all the noise for close access to the beach. But the manager was immediately argumentative with my wife – to the point of putting her in tears. That was it for me and I asked the manager why she thought it was ok to treat paying customers in such a manner. This ensued into a heated argument on the phone with the hotel Manager on what would have been the last night. They claimed we would have to check out completely (it was now 9 AM) and then wait until after 3 PM to check back in! The hotel would not let me check in at all and threatened to call the police if I came on the property. We are traveling and the hotel said my wife and 3 year daughter could stay but I would have to find a different hotel to stay in. Does this sound reasonable to you? This was for my daughters 3 year birthday and this hotel ruined her experience. We could not use this pre-paid reservation as my wife was not interested in staying in a hotel without me. I said that’s fine – just refund the money we have given you for the night we haven’t stayed yet. The answer was absolutely not! I reminded her that all of this began over loud music until 3 AM on the first night of our previous stay - when I thought things were ok on the second night - the music did start blasting again till 3 AM again the next night - no one could sleep. But still I was willing to overlook all of this – just leave us alone and let us stay in the room we have paid for. The staff was unhelpful and disrespectful the manager the same yet belligerent and dictatorial. I am 41 years old -I will not take disrespect from an 18 year old 'manager'. I did think the problem was resolved the second night so I did book a third night - but the music started at 11 PM until 3 AM. Loud thumping music that you could feel in the walls - in your head and in my heart. We could not sleep at all for two nights. When the ‘manager’ said she couldnt move us away from the nightclub or refund our money - we said we would stay in the same room –She now said that wasn’t possible – that we would have to check out – take everything put it in our car and come back after 3 PM! This was my punishment for arguing with her! I mentioned this to her - she said it was hotel policy that we would have to move we couldnt keep the same room for multiple nights. My wife told her that was unacceptable and she was then treated rudely and without concern for our enjoyment of the property. My wife was crying during the call and after. I called the 'manager' who immediately began yelling at me - would not let me talk - talked over me and spewed a few obscenities - it was not ok for me to vent back - she told me to get off the property and that she was calling the cops! In addition here are some other things about this hotel in no particular order: All this the floors in the room were tile - which I thought would be great - no dirty carpet? After walking to the balcony and back to the bathroom our feet were black! Nasty! In the first room we found

This was a decent hotel. The service and staff were great, however, the rooms were quite small and the bed were very uncomfortable. The hotel is located a good 10 minute walk away from the nearest attaction. Although the hotel is located on a beach, the beach is very small. If you want a public beach, you will need to walk up the coast a bit.

Arrived on Friday, stayed thru Tuesday. We hung out at the tiki bar friday night, and listened to the awesome band play. The music went late, til about 230am. Saturday night the music also went late. The night club was ok, but on Sunday even residents of the hotel have to pay a cover (we skipped it). The pina colada's and the rum runners were great. The water in the hotel didn't work for about an hour on Monday, but they fixed it. Parking is valet only. It was a great trip.

I went with my husband this past week, we stayed there for six days. All the reviews on this site were so helpful. They have great customer service, large rooms, definately worth your money! We got a huge gulf view room with a kitchenette and a balcony! Although I'll probaby get a pool view suite next time, I had to stick my head out of the balcony to see the gulf. But it was still beautiful. The restaurant was okay, but we were at the pool all day every day - they had a great selection of pool side eats at the Tiki bar, A GREAT DRINK MENU! We could buy $20 Vegas-style water bottles & refil it w any drink we wanted for only $10! We did that all week and had so much fun! It's in a pretty good location, right across from a gas station and Walgreens, minutes of a walk away from restaurants, the public beach and some local shops. We are definately coming back here!!
