Excellent refurbished old hotel. More spacious than more modern hotels. Just half a block from Michigan Avenue, much quieter. Next door to John Hancock. Had a two queen suite with kitchenette. Could stay a long while here. Have stayed many, many places in this area, this is one of the best for the money.

All of the room photographs on here (and even the company's own site) are a lie. The roomwe thought we were getting ended up not being the case at all. We were in an old room with run down furniture, run down kitchen appliances, and even a television that was probably twenty years old. The vending machines were empty, the hallway smelt horrible, and parking is overly expensive. Other than the location this booking was a regret.

Nice big room! So nice to be able to relax in the room without feeling like your stuck in a bedroom. Bathroom was kind of small, but I'd rather have more living space. Location was perfect. We'll definitely go back on future visits.

Went to Chicago to visit family. Had free time and wanted a hootel with good location to downtown. Great location. Clean, old (could use an update), worth the money and we would go back.

We took the Blue Line into Chicago from the airport and walked to the hotel a few blocks after transferring to the Red Line (an easy task and a quick walk-however we had minimal luggage). We found the hotel easily, as it is in fact right next door to the John Hancock Bldg. The desk staff was professional and nice. The lady we spoke to upon arrival (I told her it was our anniversary trip) upgraded us to a newly renovated room. The elevators are fast! The room was clean! The kitchen was great! the beds were comfortable! The complimentary breakfasts were adequate. We would definitely stay there again. We felt we got a lot for our money.

We used the location to get around to all the things we like to do in downtown Chicago...eat...shop...eat!!! We were upgraded to a suite and it couldn't have been better. Exceptionally friendly staff, wonderful accomodations, made for a fabulous weekend.

This was our first visit to Chicago and I must say we enjoyed every second of it. The hotel staff were very helpful and if we needed any extra items, they supplied same straight away. There was a small of gas in our room and they upgraded us to another room as soon as we mentioned it.

This is a fantastic hotel. It is reasonably inexpensive and well located. Don't let the 1950s facade of the hotel foul you. The hotel might not be the Hyatt but so isn't the price. The rooms are spacious, it has a full kitchen, ample bathroom and comfortable beds. Even the cable TV has all the channels. The hotel staff is very friendly. The only criticism has to be the shower. The hot water wasn't too powerful but maybe the one in your room is. I highly recommend this hotel.

Again I found the Seneca Hotel an ideal place to stay in Chicago -- large room, exceptionally friendly service by the doormen and the main desk personnel, convenient to shopping, restaurants of all sorts and prices, buses, taxis, and many places of interest within walking distance.

We were so impressed at Seneca. It's like booking an expensive hotel at a lower rate. The best feature of this hotel is its location. it is near almost all the places worth visiting in Chicago. It's a minute walk to Water Tower Place, Hancock Tower and the Magnificent Mile. It's 5-7 minutes walk to the nearest Metro station. Service is good and the breakfast is another added feature. The room is spacious and nice and the kitchen is very useful. I would definiteley recommend this hotel to friends.

After reading some mixed reviews we were a bit apprehensive. Our room was excellent spotlessly clean and serviced very well every day. The staff were helpful and polite and the hotel is situated on the next block to the Hancock observatory and two minutes walk from the magnificent mile shops.

This is an old fashioned hotel (some people like it that way). It's clean and neat and it's in a central location just off the 'mile'. Many rooms have a kitchen area/microwave/fridge, which could be a benefit (particularly the fridge). No frills but pricing and location are good and I'd stay here again.
