Sen Viet Hotel Ho Chi Minh
3 out of 5

We only spent one night in Ho Chi Minh on our way to Hong Kong and the Sen Viet was good value for money with a buffet breakfast included. Check in was fine, the staff were friendly enough, breakfast was a standard 3 star buffet breakfast and check out was fine. Apparently District 3, where Sen Viet is, isn't the tourist area, which was ok because we had organised a 2.5hr "Saigon by night tour" with XO Tours which was fantastic and highly recommended!! So we really only needed a bed and breakfast. Regards, Erin p.s Apparently District 1 is the tourist spot.

As above. A minor problem. They need to keep the burners under the breakfast food going all the time. Sometimes the food can be cold.

If travelling on a budget, this is a clean, comfortable hotel which offers excellent value but few frills. Breakfast is included but in our experience much of the food had run out by 9am. The location is not within easy walking distance of the city, but you can walk to coffee chain (Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf) and western style food (NYDC) if needed (adjacent to Hotel Nikko, a landmark in the neighbourhood). Be wary of laundry service. On day one we organised for laundry to be collected at 9am (an hour prior to the 10am cutoff for return by 6pm). It took two days to be returned. The next day we had a plastic bag of laundry we left on the floor beside our case removed and laundered without us completing paperwork or putting it into the laundry basket. It was returned cleaned the next day - along with a US$25 bill! When we refused to pay an argument ensued... we won in the end but it marred the visit.

A very good hotel for the money and district seemed very safe and central. My booking showed the wrong date due to crossing the dateline and as a result one night had to be cancelled. This also affected my pre paid airport hotel transfer as the service was provided a day early and of course I was not there. There is no recourse on this point so I lost the price of a transfer because it was paid in advance for a specific date. JOEJ

It was our first visit to Vietnam and was unsure as to what to expect, on our arrival at the hotel we were warmly welcomed and were speedily dealt with on the check in and accompanied to our room. The room for the price far reached our expectations and was very cormfortable and was a welcome on our return each day from our escapades. Breakfast each morning was from a well stocked buffet and afforded itself to setting us up sufficiently for the day. Staff were always very polite and efficient and the addded bonus of a member hailing for taxis and reccomending places of interest helped no end. All in all in very good place to stay but most importantly very affordable for level of service and hospitality, well worth a stay.

We had a nice, peaceful sleep at this hotel. The personnel are very friendly and patient. They give immediate response to your needs. The foods (breakfast) taste good.

we enjoyed our stay at this hotel, the rooms were clean and tidy, buffet breakfast had a great variety and was very fresh, the staff were very helpful and informed us of safety in the city. The girls on reception were helpful and spoke reasonably good english. We did enjoy our stay and would recommend this hotel

excellent hotel, staff very caring, food good, cannot fault except that taxi required to get to city centre but not expensive. Would recommend as plenty shopping nearby. had problem as hotel not aware of extended booking made in september and Hotel fully booked for New Years Holidays but made room available eventually.

Great hotel, very pleasant and homely entrance lobby and restaurant, friendly staff and excellent value for money. However the location is a bit far from most places of interest. One negative was that it advertised as having a health club, in fact there wasn't one.

A positive experience overall, neat clean room and friendly service. Only negatives were that reception charged a big commission on my cu chi tunnel tour angst the hotel is about a ten minute walk from the tourist traps but in a way that's good as each night you can walk home through the real non touristy HCMC

Good hotel ok value for money. Its set back off the street so noise level is ok for Saigon. The staff are nice. Everything worked they way it should. We stayed 2 times the first time we booked a deluxe double the second time premium double. They were the same room, the latter only 150 tbt more expensive. So short sighted trickiness all of Vietnam the same. Very boring to have to be on your guard all the time
