Sabor Cozumel Resort and Spa - All Inclusive

We spent 8 great days & nights @ the Sabor in Dec. of '11. We had been there in May, but this stay was even better. The rooms seemed to have been repainted and spruced up a bit, and the food was also better than last time. The staff was very friendly and helpful when needed, and the beach dinner and fire show were really cool. The snorkeling @ the Sabor is the best of any of the resorts we've visited, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone!!!

The positives of this hotel far outweigh any of the criticisms. The hotel grounds are gorgeous and well taken care of, the rooms are good sized and clean, the bathrooms are spa-like, and the beach, pools and water activities (including the dive shop) were wonderful. Most importantly, the staff is fantastic. Antonio (bell boy), Barbara (Sabor Exclusive Check-in), the bartenders, waiters and room staff were all fantastic and so friendly. The spa was also fantastic (a little in-need of refurbishment in the facilities, but otherwise top notch). The negatives - beds were hard, shower head made you feel like you were getting hit with needles, hot water disappeared periodically, there was a typical musty smell in the room that you find in the tropics (we suggest buying a spray from the spa - we sprayed it once a day and the had a lasting spa smell that was so tantalizing), slow room service (call 1 hour ahead), mediocre food, concentrated juices and watered-down alcohol (typical for most all-inclusive resorts). We enjoyed the two specialty restaurants - Roberto's and the Asian place and would recommend them for dinner over the buffet. The ceviche is incredible! The only other complaint I heard was the location. If you are a couple and just want to spend your time on the resort lying in the sun, snorkeling and hanging out, this is your place. If you enjoy venturing into town though, it will cost you $15 US each way in a taxi. I would definitely go there again and would recommend the place, but I would stay closer to town if you are single or going to Cozumel to party, hit the bars and/or shop.

For an inexpensive getaway, it's not bad. Just don't expect anything super fancy. The swim up bar is fun. The buffet isn't awful. Order a lot of items each at the Italian restaurant, cause it's hit and miss. The rooms felt not super clean. The staff was lovely. The dance bar was a lot of fun. Good DJ. I went with a large group, we had fun every day.

We stayed at the Sabor last fall and were impressed by the food, loved there were no kids and had a great time. On this recent visit, the food at La Isla was buffet style, limited and not great. Robertos was amazing, but you had to start making reservations at breakfast. Or first room overlooked the pool and it sounded like everyone was in our room with us. Our second room overlooked the garden, but was still amazingly noisy...you pretty much woke up when your neighbors did. Although the resort is adult only, the adjoining resorts aren't and therefore there were kids around. The staff and entertainment were amazing.

Were supposed to get in our room at 3:30 on the day of arrival. After asking several times we finally got our room at 5. The woman at the reception desk was rude. We asked for a king size bed and were rudely dismissed. We got two full size beds, one of which was broken and the other squeaked. We had Luke warm water. One day it was totally cold. Our room was poorly decorated with no covers on the electrical outlets. The floor was painted filthy concrete around the edges with dirty tiles in the center. The outside light fixture was missing with wires hanging. We were in Villa 17 behind the restaurant. They rolled carts of food down the sidewalk from 4 am until midnight. It was loud and kept us awake. The smell around the resort was of sewer. The food was bad and cold. The morning milk was warm. If all of something wasn't eaten at dinner they would put it on the breakfast buffet. Sometimes, not always, the wait staff totally ignored us. The pool had chunks of missing concrete. The entire place was run down and most of the staff totally ignored you. The drinks tasted like kerosene

The staff was very friendly at Sabor! The pictures online reveal what you get. The common area was clean and beautiful. It wasn't overcrowded, always a place to find to lay at the pool or on the beach. The chairs were a bit worn out but do-able. The rooms were livable but I found the bathroom a bit gross at first (water stains in the toilet) and the lighting was poor. However, we hardly spent any time in our room so it wasn't an issue. Initially, I thought the food was pretty bad but by the end I became used to it and it was okay, but I never went hungry. If you make reservations to the restaurant at the hotel for dinner, that's best. Overall, Cozumel was very relaxing. I went with one other friend. We met mostly couples or families but everyone was nice and we still made friends! I probably wouldn't go back but I enjoyed myself.

Great resort... for couples, not singles! :) I traveled to Cozumel and stayed at the Sabor for one week. I had an amazing time, but I would not recommend this all-inclusive resort for the single, solo traveler. I chose Cozumel for the amazing diving, but unfortunately, the port was closed on several occasions so I missed out on a lot of diving, yet I was still charged for the tanks I was unable to use. I realize this is not the fault of the resort, as they are looking out for their guests best interest, but I would have liked to have been more informed. Another family of divers was provided information and they assumed I would get the message, which wasn't the case. Also, there was NO room service. Apparently, room service was cancelled two weeks prior to my arrival, which I would have liked to have known. The rooms were quite cold and the remotes for the A/C did not work, but blankets were delivered toward the end of my stay. Overall, the meals were good, the drinks were better, and the staff was excellent and super friendly!!

Our family spent a week here during the Christmas holiday, including Christmas day. We stayed in the Exclusive section. Our kids are both older college students so they had their own room next to ours. The rooms were nice, well air conditioned and had balconies that overlooked the landscaped pool area. Our son loved laying in his hammock on the balcony and both kids dug the pool slides that went from our building to the swim up bar. For the rooms: housecleaning was unpredictable and sometimes left random things undone. Our shower tended to alternate between boiling hot & ice cold, but the water pressure was always pretty good.Tthere was always a large water container for our building and a pitcher provided for our room. There was a small coffee pot and a refrigerator. The restaurant staff happily provided us with milk and sugar for our morning coffee. We consider the rooms average for a Cozumel resort. The staff here is wonderful and they went out of their way to try to please us. We noticed the staff working hard to make sure people had activities to do if they wanted to - water sports, ping pong tournaments, tequila tasting seminar, dance parties, dinner beach party, etc. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised with this resort and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The food and the staff were the best parts of this resort and they exceeded our expectations. I don't think we would choose this resort again for a week long stay, but we will definitely come back for a long weekend.

Most of the time during our week we had a problem getting clean dry towels from the towel desk. Who wants to sit on a wet towel all day? Limited choices for where to eat. Slow, inconsistent food service at the snack bar. We booked for the lazy river, then found it wasn't even operational. Entertainment found to be lacking. Sometimes no towels were delivered to the room, or a very limited number. Beach is long but rocky. Staff tries their best for the most part. Can't get around the fact that this resort is old and is showing it's age. Room are small - other than the Sabor Exclusive rooms. Had three rooms and two of the three rooms had issues with either the phone, A/C or some other issue. Still it was a good value and other resorts were higher priced but those resorts would have included more dining options and other services. There is a smell that is foul when walking around the facility. We didn't know if it was rotting vegetation or sewage.

For the total money we spent, this was great. We spent Christmas through New Years at this hotel and found it to be a good value for the money. We look at a hotel as a place to sleep, shower, change clothes and escape from brief tropical showers. Aside from that, we don't care much about the room conditions. The A/C and fan worked VERY well. The rooms were kept clean. Our shower didn't drain all that well but everything always smelled fresh. There were two restaurants. One was a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If there were outside buffets set up (which was often) then this one was shut down. There was an Italian place that you had to make a reservation for. The food was still included but the seating was very limited. The food at the Italian place was very good. The buffet was decent. If you are picky like me then you probably would rate the buffet a 6. My husband isn't so picky and would give it a 7/8. Overall, you are RIGHT on the beach and less than 25 minutes from any great dive site. Most sites are within 10 minutes. If you are in to diving the location is Perfect. You are only a 10 min drive from downtown too so if shopping is your thing...this is not a bad trek at all. Again, overall we think this is a good value for the money.

It all started at check in.We got there at 3-3:30,the exact time you should be able to check in.After standing in line for 15 to 20 min because there was only 2 people at the desk,we finally received our keys started to walk away only to be told our room wasn't ready, why don't we go have some lunch at the bar area.At that location there is one waiter taking care of 15 tables and he does not like it if you go right up to the cooks. On one side of the menu was about 10 items which they only had 5,on the other side like 8 different kinds of pizza, hey guess what the pizza oven doesn't work. There is one beer, not even a dark or a light option, the wine sucks, mixed drinks so so.The room is basic and noisy.I could hear every thing going on around us,toilet flush, chairs moving, sneezing, coughing, and people going up and down the stairs.O.K. let me calm down.I could go on,but lets end on a positive. The weather was great. The snorkeling, view, volleyball, laying by the pool, and the people we went with made the vacation.

No wi-fi, they were unsuccessful sending a fax( not that people need that on vacation)and wanted to charge for it.Room had no towels called desk said they would bring that night never did, went by front desk asked to bring them never did finally found maid and got them myself.Shower weak and temp changed all the time.Dive shop guy seemed to busy to talk about what was offered.Beach was ok but had some iffy drainage.

The best thing about Sabor is that it's located on a long stretch of beach that is excellent for swimming and very good for snorkeling. Wet shoes help getting in and out due to some rocks and coral formations. Pools are OK but shallow. Staff is very nice and do deserve some small tips when earned. Food is fair... uneven quality, certainly not first rate. Evening entertainment was pretty feeble. 150 pesos to town each way for a chance to try other restaurants, museum, shopping and other community life. Visiting the mercado municipal was a great reminder that as nice and easy Cozumel is for vititors, it's also home to very nice Mexican folks!

As a frequent traveler, my boyfriend and I were EXTREMELY upset and disgusted at our trip to Sabor from Dec. 25-30, 2011. Let me start with the worst first...I have been to Mexico more than a handful of times now and have had nothing but friendly, go-out-of-their way staff at all of the resorts I have been to. Well, not only were the staff not very friendly (you felt obligated to tip if you wanted decent service at this ALL INCLUSIVE...), but let me tell you what happened our last day at the resort. I got out of the shower and was drying off in our bathroom, as I did EVERY DAY...well, I heard through our bathroom vent, voices of workers there (there were so many maintenance guys and other mexican guys walking around the resort) almost as if they were in the bathroom with me....i heard a guy speaking spanish, and at first didn't think anything of it (figured it was just cleaning going on in the room next door).....then for some reason I looked at our vent, and I SWEAR I saw some sort of camera or something in my vent moving around from someone holding it there and spying....I gasped and ran into the room and my boyfriend grabbed our camera and tried to take a picture through the vent to see what was on the other side ....it was some kind of pipe room that you could see RIGHT into...so therefore, there was definitely someone looking into my bathroom....I wonder how many other women they have done this to without their knowing. Scared me so much....Thank god we left that day. Honestly, I cried at how disgusted and creeped out I was. Never experienced ANYTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE...... Okay, back to the hotel....we got there and had to switch rooms 3 times...paid for a king ocean front...first room had 2 beds, second room had bugs all over the ceiling hanging over the bed, so we went back to the front desk...they rolled their eyes and I said, "I hope the next room is clean and has a king"...I was told, "It's going to have to be fine because that's all we have"....rudely. The third room was acceptable...not too many problems. There was a rusty nail in our shower clothesline, but we avoided that....everyone else we talked to said they had no hot water, but we were okay most of the trip...in our room. People said in reviews I read before we left that the front desk motto is "come back and try again tomorrow"...I laughed when I ACTUALLY heard them saying that when we were there. Restaurants: 1 buffet restaurant...breakfast, lunch, dinner...unless you made reservations between 12-3 for the italian one which was good.... We did that once, and then only had the option of that one buffet for the rest of the meals.....same food almost every day, every meal. Waiters kept forgetting to bring our drinks. The entertainment: oh my, what a joke. We cracked up. The blacklight show were the bartenders with blacklight paint on their bodies doing dances that looked like they had never practiced EVER....everyone around us was also cracking up.....it was pretty sad. There was a light show that was basically the same thing over and over for 45 minutes....it WAS cool for the first 5 minutes. The beach was what I expected....warm water, GREAT to snorkel, very rocky....we got stung by jellyfish and so did others around us, but it didn't ruin it....Pretty small, but well kept and nice for Mexico. The travel representative at our hotel was nice, HOWEVER....we booked an excursion through the hotel at the excursion desk, not knowing to do otherwise, and the travel company guy (when we were talking to him about our ride back to the airport) pretty much demanded we cancel our excursion and book it through him because he won't get commission if we don't.....well we didn't...sorry. And I didn't feel bad because of the way he told us to cancel. All that being said, I could not believe that was our experience.....it was so sad...especially because this was my boyfriend's first vacation and even HE was disgusted with what happened. Needless to say, we had to mak

We stayed 9 days. No tips. What you see is what you get. The internet does not reach all the rooms. We were fortunate and it worked for us. In general an all in all good experience. Staff is pretty friendly and helpful. The restaurant Mosaique was the best. There was an asian buffet that was great. The Italian restaurant was overrated and not worth making a reservation for which was required. There is another restaurant that we did not go to. I would definitely return. Drinks are weak at the swim up bar but not too surprising.

Goot hotel, great location. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. The pools are sparkly clean and the beach is being cleanded up every day. The food was a little bland, but they have a good variety to choose from. Not much of a wine selection though, there is only red or white. The room is of a good size, the beds are a little hard. The furniture and the bathroom show their age. But the housekeeping is outstanding.

Our stay at the Sabor was great. The location and beach are absolutely beautiful! The beach is a little rocky in spots, but because of this, the snorkeling is really good right in front of the hotel. The staff is wonderful. The shows are entertaining. The breakfast, lunch buffet and snack bar are good. The sit down dinners are GREAT! The food at the restaraunts are as good as any nice restaraunt back home. The rooms are cleaned everyday. The bar service is awesome. The beachfront swing bar was our favorite!!! The rooms are not super elegant, but they are decent. The price, amenities, food, drinks and staff are awesome! You will love this place :)

This was my first time at an all inclusive. I booked last minute from the photos posted on line. My room was dirty. There were no towels. When I finally did get towels they were wet. The knob on one of the faucets was off and laying on the sink. I ask that it be reattached and it never was. Each day one face towel was left not two. Don't understand that. The food was some of the worst I have ever eaten. The staff at the snack bar were downright angry. I asked that they finish cooking my fries as they were white and barely cooked. How do you mess up a hamburger. Not all bartenders know how to mix the same drinks. This place is a disaster.
