This was my 4th visit to Cairns, and this time I was looking for something central. Pros: * Excellent location * Great sale price * Exceptional ocean view * Great pool * Good shower pressure * Wonderful check in - at 9am! * Complimentary late checkout to 12pm * Free local parking * Super fast lifts Cons: * Pricey restaurant * Basic small, old rooms not worth the full price * Interconnecting room = noise from next door * Staff very busy Overall a good experience. I paid a bargain $70 a night for an Ocean front room (was given 2 double beds unusually instead of 1 queen!) so felt that I can't complain due to price. Hotel isn't worth full price as the Ocean view room was what I would call a standard room in Cairns, and bears significant signs of age. I did receive a nice modern TV, unlike some reviewers. Wireless internet is only available if you're in level 4 or above (I was in 3) or in the lobby - it's not cheap, much better to get your own modem. Parking is valet and $10 per night, but there's ample free unlimited time parking on Abbott St so no need to worry. We had a fire alarm go off at 11.30pm at night, had to call reception to see what was going on. Stopped after 10 minutes but we were never told what happened. Staff didn't know next day either! Felt sorry for those who had jet lag. Full service for rooms is good although when I returned back one day it had not been completed and I was told staff had all gone home. I asked if I could have clean towels and after 2 requests and 6 hours I finally received them. Seems staff are quite busy downstairs at reception, I think they could use some more support! A lobby renovation is in progress, which will jazz up the look a bit! However the rooms are now due for a freshening up also. Wonderful pool, it's a shame the spa isn't heated and there isn't a pool shower to rinse off in. Would recommend if you can get a room for $70-90 per night. Not so much a resort accommodation, but good if you plan to spend most of your time in town or on tours. All in all a pleasant simple stay.

A wonderful setting convenient to town and to a full range of eateries. The staff were tremendously helpful and courteous at all times. The pool was bliss and the views excellent. My only real problem was the noise of the airconditioner. Also, sadly, at one meal the prawns were 'suspect' and I did not eat them. I mentioned this to the waiter but there was no feedback.

Loved almost everything about this place. The ocean view was spectacular, bed comfortable, staff friendly and helpful. The room was well aired and quiet at all hours. The hotel was close to the restaurants and shopping- I am reasonably fit but over 60 years old- and I walked there comfortably. There seemed to be plenty of parking on the esplanade for guests with cars. The only criticisms I had was that the corridor to the rooms looked a bit shabby and I did not think the toilet in my room was quite clean when I arrived. I only had one meal at the hotel and it was not particularly good- fish too oily and salad very heavily dressed but the portions were generous and it was reasonably priced. The pool and grounds were lovely. I would love to visit again.

My wife and I mainly selected the hotel for the location and the brand name. The room we stayed in was advertised as a luxury room, however compared to contemporary hotels and motels we stayed in it seemed average and very aged in regards to furniture Tv ( poor picture quality, lost volume and switched itself off constantly)and quality of bedding. The staff was friendly but in general we can only call it average.

A pleasant room with a decent view. It was nice and clean with helpful staff on reception. Great location, short walk to restaurants and nightmarkets, can even walk to Cairns Central (main shopping complex) if you are feeling energetic, took us about 20 minutes. Lovely bathroom, great shower water pressure. Would recommend, and would stay again if up that way.

I enjoyed my stay. The room was comfortable and clean, the pool area was nice. I had a wine in the bar overlooking the esplanade, lovely location, but very limited wine choices.

Right on the Esplanade but 2 blocks from the Restaurants - so no noise issues. The Staff and Hotel Location was perfect. Only critique was that the Swimming pool/Spa was not heated. And the 20C temperature was brisk in Oz Winter. Would happily stay again.

We got a great deal on this hotel. We had a room with a waterfront view, they have complimentary swimming towels, a beautiful pool area, easy walk to the reef tours, and near a lot of restaurants. The only downside might have been the bathtub...it could use some cleaning up.

Arriving on an early morning flight from Darwin I was expecting to have to wait 4+ hours until check-in but the staff advised that my room was ready immediately - excellent start to my day. From there until the end of my 11 day stay the service was fantastic, the staff were always ready with advice and assistance. The staff at the tour desk were brilliant! Would recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay there again myself.

This hotel is old and in need of a refurb. The price was good and would have been even better if the premises reached their star rating. Room furniture and floor coverings are old as and I haven't seen a TV that old since the 90's. Mould in the ceiling of the bathroom and the dirty (vents) AC sounded like a jet plane. In order to help the enviroment they don't make up your bed ????Staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel is well situated in Cairns approximately 10 minutes from the harbor. We were very lucky with the room. We booked a standard room but were upgraded. The ocean view rooms are really great. However, it may get a bit noisy inside the rooms if there are strong winds outside (i.e. the door the the bacony did not close very well and we heard the wind). The lobby and the reception do not really look great and the drinks at the bar are a bit expensive.
