This was a good experience for my family. The hotel is fantastic, the rooms are clean and very comfortable.

This was my 4th visit to Cairns, and this time I was looking for something central. Pros: * Excellent location * Great sale price * Exceptional ocean view * Great pool * Good shower pressure * Wonderful check in - at 9am! * Complimentary late checkout to 12pm * Free local parking * Super fast lifts Cons: * Pricey restaurant * Basic small, old rooms not worth the full price * Interconnecting room = noise from next door * Staff very busy Overall a good experience. I paid a bargain $70 a night for an Ocean front room (was given 2 double beds unusually instead of 1 queen!) so felt that I can't complain due to price. Hotel isn't worth full price as the Ocean view room was what I would call a standard room in Cairns, and bears significant signs of age. I did receive a nice modern TV, unlike some reviewers. Wireless internet is only available if you're in level 4 or above (I was in 3) or in the lobby - it's not cheap, much better to get your own modem. Parking is valet and $10 per night, but there's ample free unlimited time parking on Abbott St so no need to worry. We had a fire alarm go off at 11.30pm at night, had to call reception to see what was going on. Stopped after 10 minutes but we were never told what happened. Staff didn't know next day either! Felt sorry for those who had jet lag. Full service for rooms is good although when I returned back one day it had not been completed and I was told staff had all gone home. I asked if I could have clean towels and after 2 requests and 6 hours I finally received them. Seems staff are quite busy downstairs at reception, I think they could use some more support! A lobby renovation is in progress, which will jazz up the look a bit! However the rooms are now due for a freshening up also. Wonderful pool, it's a shame the spa isn't heated and there isn't a pool shower to rinse off in. Would recommend if you can get a room for $70-90 per night. Not so much a resort accommodation, but good if you plan to spend most of your time in town or on tours. All in all a pleasant simple stay.

A wonderful setting convenient to town and to a full range of eateries. The staff were tremendously helpful and courteous at all times. The pool was bliss and the views excellent. My only real problem was the noise of the airconditioner. Also, sadly, at one meal the prawns were 'suspect' and I did not eat them. I mentioned this to the waiter but there was no feedback.

Good experience overall but would dine out rather than in the hotel.
