Rydges On Swanston Melbourne Hotel Guest Reviews
Staff were very friendly but the hotel is a bit run down and the access is not very friendly for people with mobility issues (no alternative to a flight of stairs to get to the lobby) and it is not cheap. We didn't eat there - too many good choices nearby in Lygon Street - so can't comment on the food.

Located 3 tram stop away from Melbourne central, clean and comfortable room and customer service is excellent The only thing that bothered me is the lift speed, which took 6 seconds to go from floor to floor.. All and all satisfied with the hotel and certainly happy to stay there for next visit :)

This hotel is very well located right by the tram line. We stayed in a newly refurbished room which was a decent size but the lighting in the room was very poor and the bathroom shower recess had no soap dish which meant you had to put the soap on the floor yuk! Apart from these facts we had a comfortable 2 night stay and would stay again if the price was right at the time of booking.

Best thing about this hotel is its location and the ability to open windows (important for me), but facilities are average at best: room was dark and gloomy - carpet, furniture, wall; light bulbs blew; TV was untuned; no bedside light, so couldn't read in bed; bathroom was shabby, grimy and chipped and toilet didn't flush properly. My in room dinner lasagne was so burnt on the bottom it was inedible. Staff were friendly and helpful but even they couldn't make a silk purse out of these sows ears.
