Rydges Lakeland Resort Queenstown
4 out of 5

The kids loved the buffet breakfast with views across the lake, we loved the close proximity to everything! Although the pool/ spa was small, the lake across the road is huge and, weather permitting, be ready for a dip in the coolest, cleanest water anywhere in the world! Excellent value and service.

This is a great location and everything was very comfortable. Ensure that you have a room with a lake view. Good value.

Good location but service and amenities are average for a 4.5 star hotel. In room safe not working etc...

Location and view were fantastic Staff friendly and helpful Room was small and was swamped by the bed with little room left. Very little storage room for clothes and bags Tea & coffee facilities were poor, with only 4 tea bags for 2 people and only mugs no cups. Decor was basic with no style Bathroom was even worse, cracked bath and splash back, dirty soiled seals around bath, extraction fan was useless. No bath salts, bubble bath or shower gel only a bar of soap or small shampoo to wash with. Overall apart from the location this hotel needs a serious makeover and needs to get a lesson on what is expected of a 4 star hotel . Shame as the views were great

Location of hotel was ideal as only a short walk into town, but far enough away to not be disturbed. Hotel and facilities were good, although as we were placed on the ground floor for our booking, its description of 'lake view' was stretching the imagination a bit #obscured by both trees and cars in the car park#. We did have a problem with occupants in the room next to us on one evening, which the hotel staff eventually resolved by evicting them from the hotel, but this wasn't until gone midnight and the individuals did return to their room to continue their 'party' several hours later via the ground floor balcony doors that they had deliberately left unlocked. Given that this effectively 'wrecked' one night of our 3 night stay at the hotel, it is a little disappointing that the hotel have yet to offer any form of recompense/compensation.

Less than 5 mins walk to the centre of Queenstown, so convenient for everything there. Only real complaint is that we felt they had the airconditioning set to 'mummify' so slept with the windows open wide.

Setting is a bit old which is clearly defined by the quality of the lift/hallway from the 6th floor up. Heater in the room was also not powerful enough. Other than that, everything was fine. Beds were comfortable, water in the bath was hot, and we got good tv reception.

This is the second that I've stayed here and it wasn't as good as the first time. My first room was great with a beautiful view and I enjoyed the experience, but it was not to be the second time with my room being close to the pool abd bar.

staff we very friendly and helpful, the hotel was lovely, amazing views from breakfast room, the bar was nice and cosy. The room was big enough and we had one with a balcony.. it just needs a slight reburbish in the bathroom etc but other than that a great hotel, highly recommend it! The room service menu was amazing!

Great location with room overlooking Lake Wakatipu. Far away enough from town centre to be peaceful but within walking distance. Enjoyed sitting on balcony looking at the lake, mountains & boats passing by.

Good value for money. The only thing was we booked a lakeview room expecting it to be right in front of the lake but the room was on the ground floor... Other than that all good.

Couldn't get into my room upon arrival (around 11 am) until after 2 pm. Staff very nice & helpful. Room was quite a distance from the front desk (had to use 2 elevators). My room was budget-class. Not sound-proofed from corridor.

room was ok except for the drone of the air con unit outside, staff helpful friendly, caught off guard with $100 deposit after everything was paid for on credit card. No Buffet dinners at the time of review only breakfast. Brilliant inhouse bar, after 5pm buy a drink and you get complimentary wireless. 6min walk to township. View and Location spectacular.

We stayed here in December 2011 and were disappointed. There are some good points: five minute walk into town, a nice restaurant, & free internet in the bar area. For us, these things did not outweigh the fact that the room was long overdue for a refurb. Carpet was dirty and worn; dried gum stuck on it that had turned black long ago. No air conditioning. Windows opened, however then the sounds from cars and loud people on the street kept waking us up.

My room was on 9th floor, it is so old that it has unpleasent smells, I have to open the windows even it was cold outside. The sheets look clean.
