The room itself was great, but the service left something to be desired. It felt like they were trying to nickel and dime us every step of the way. The ladies in tour desk harassed us every time we went by trying to get us to buy their tours. They even scolded us for going with another company for a tour that they didn't even offer.

The Royal Villas Resort Mazatlan provided the standard service as expected. What was extremely disappointing was they did not provide the most important expectation of feeling safe and secure in the hotel. I accepted and tried to ignore that the balcony door didn't lock. One night we found our front door unlocked and another night not only was our door open but we found people in our room. Nothing was missing but this is the most disturbing experience I've ever had staying at a hotel. The staff shrugged their shoulders and couldn't explain why this happened. Would not recommend this hotel.
