Royal Eagle Hotel London
5 out of 5

Upon arrival, the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful...I originally booked a room for 3, and instead of getting a double bedded room with an extra bed squeezed in a corner, to my pleasant surprise, I was told I have been upgraded to a duplex room for 4!!! Excellent experience and location. I only hope they had been more generous with the shampoo and showel gel.

We wanted a place in London that fit a family of 4. Most places had a limit of 3, which would have meant we would have had to get 2 rooms. The Royal Eagle had a lovely, large room with enough space for 4. Granted, one of the "beds" was a pull-out couch (not always the most comfortable sleeping surface). But it was fine for a few nights, and we saved by not having to get 2 rooms. The building was nice and close to a major train and subway station, so getting around day or night was very convenient!

This is a usefully placed hotel, only a block or two from Paddington Station. I had a single room; it was clean and comfortable, though certainly not large -- but I didn't need large. The bathroom is TINY. Advice: ask for as high a floor as you can get -- the higher the less traffic noise. I use this hotel regularly because it's clean, it provides what I need where I need it at a reasonable price.

This hotel provided what I needed: somewhere not too expensive to stay as near as possible to Paddington Station. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom tiny but clean and adequate. One problem: from the street into the hotel lobby there is a steep flight of steps, not at all easy to negotiate if you have heavy luggage (though I suppose a member of the hotel staff would help if you couldn't manage -- but you would have to go inside to ask for help). The breakfast room, on the day I was there, was busy and rather crowded but the breakfast was fine.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Wi-fi is charged for in the room, but there is a computer and printer available in the lobby free of charge. Located a few minutes walk from the Paddington station. Breakfast was better than you would find in most inexpensive hotels. Floors were very creaky, but the noise from other rooms was fairly low even though the hotel was booked. Decor is simple but tasteful and if you just need a very clean place to sleep and get a bite in the morning, this is definitely the place.

Small rooms, but not uncommon for this price in London. Great location, short walk to Paddington station, easy walk to museums through Hyde Park. Parking is a bonus in a London hotel. Good continental breakfast. Good value London hotel.

Stayed at room 221. It was clean, lovely decorated and a brilliant view from the balcony. Considering it was on a busy street very little noise at night.

Excellent value for money (we paid £77 in mid June for a duplex room which would sleep five), perfectly acceptable despite a few bits that were tatty and under-maintained, but for that money in London we have already stayed more than once. Excellent brekkie too, good selection and pleasant staff.

Have stayed at the Royal Eagle a number of times before and I have continuosly found the staffs are friendly and helpful. The location is ideal for me in that I can get to the theatres without any hassle, the Paddington station is near which is a bonus. The only minus point is the bedroom, I would prefer duvet (washable ones) instead of blankets which I do not think is hygienic and the beds in the room I was given needed changing. (could feel the springs.)
