Brighton is not somewhere we would normally go we got the hotel at a good price and its very central located opp Brighton pier the room was ok the lounge looking over to the pier was lovely, breakfast was also good, only downside which was the noise outside the hotel through the night we didnt realise that our room was near the night bus stops and it was really noisey maybe a room at the front of the hotel would have helped with this.

A grand old facade with helpful staff. Double room was in the basement, double bed very comfortable, but was against a wall...moved it for ease of access,,6 inches each side, so really a single room with a double bed. Heard similar complaints being made to staff. Told the place has WIFI, only after checking in did we find that is only on 1st floor. Buffet breakfast..scambled eggs that you could bounce, boiled eggs that were grey and big queues due to slow replenishment of food stuffs.

Title refers to the building, some people slate it, but i like an old hotel like this, it has character, and the team are nice, its clean, its a perfect location. I preferred to walk than take the lift, nice to take in the ambience of the hotel and seaviews. Some people moan about that too, only 1 small lift, oh really please, whats the rush, relax and enjoy.

The room we were first allocated smelled very strongly of cigarettes, which someone had recently been smoking in the room. Thankfully when we asked to change rooms the staff were extremely courteous and speedy in allocating a clean smelling, larger room with a view of the sea and Brighton Pier, the first room had a view of the back of the hotel. I wish this room had been allocated to us initially. A good breakfast was served.

We were happy with our twin room. It was large, clean and had a good view over the front of the hotel. The bathroom was equiped with a large bath and shower. The fan didn't work in the windowless room and there was no toilet roll holder or towel rack. The toilet roll fell in the bath. The main room had plenty of storage plus hangers. There were tea making facilities and a hairdryer. The TV was analogue, the remote was broken and we only found 1 channel! The bedside lamps did not work not possible to read in bed. We weren't too bothered. The breakfast was fine.

No record of my booking when i went to check in, but i was given a complimentary drink whilst they looked into it. 5 minutes later, all sorted, and given my room key. Much bigger room than i expected so that was a bonus. It may not be at its former glory from however many decades ago! But i love the old character of the hotel, and its clean and conveniently located. I will stay again.

Given room in basement, described as double but could only get into bed from one side-and that was tight! Tired furniture, so complained and we were given a room on the top floor with a sea view which was fine, although didn't quite match "elegant luxury" as described in the brochure. Breakfast was reasonable and dinner, which we didn't have, looked good value. Fantastic location though, but mainly the sort of hotel used by coach parties of pensioners who all seemed perfectly happy.

The hotel is old (hence Royal), but near the pier so it was pretty handy getting about the Laines and the palace. There was mould in the bathroom though. Otherwise a pretty nice place, just opposite the gay clubs as well.

Excellent location, but a shadow of its obvious former glory. Busy, under-staffed reception area. No clear communication about breakfast or checking out times. No one answered when telephoning the reception desk from the room. The hotel just needs a bit of modernisation, or just more care and attention. The room was basic and 'tired'. I would consider staying there again, but only based on the cheap rate and not because of the facilities or service.

Confortable and very well located. We had a room to the sea front and it was great. But I am not so sure about other rooms. Breakfast is basic and not very good, wifi works not very well, one day the room was not done, but people is friendly and location is fantastic for everything in Brighton. Price was good from HotelClub, I think it was not so good booking directly.

The Royal Albion Hotel Brighton is a grand old lady hotel right on the seafront directly opposite the pier in Brighton. The staff are friendly yet professional and the room I had was brilliant. Breakfast was lovely and food I had from the bar, in the lounge area was acceptable and reasonably priced. There is free WiFi in the lounge area which works well. ** Also: this hotel has smoking rooms, great! Overall a great place for the money.

Our room (337) had a frosted window and was dark and dingy, but it was nice and big. The bed was horrible: we felt the springs underneath us. But the room was also very quiet, which we really appreciated. Another problem: there is one tiny elevator for the entire hotel. There were times where we had to wait 10-15 minutes to get on the elevator. Also, breakfast on the weekend is badly organized. People often have to wait 30 minutes to eat if you come between 9am and 10am. And there is no parking at the hotel. But the price is right and the location can't be beat.

The hotel is in an ideal location for the peer and the local pubs and clubs. My only criticism of the hotel was that the breakfast was on a buffet basis but there were massive queues for food because everything was on the same plinth. The hotel need to split the cerelas and fruitjuices from the cooked breakfast because everyone was queing irrespecyive of whether thy were at the satr middle or end of their breakfast. It was very poor and they need to sort this out, there is plenty of room in the two dining areas to address this.

If you like faded glory rather than sterile uniformity then enjoy this hotel. The room was very large; the huge bath a rare luxury these days.
