We spent our honeymoon vacation Nov 22 thru 29. I expected definitely more from Riu hotel. When we arrived, I told on the reception that we are on our honeymoon. The guy was very friendly And he said that we will love our room (we paid extra to have the ocean view). We were very disappointed when I saw 2 double beds in our room and of course, I spent another hour to change the room. Finally, we received very nice room on the 3rd floor with front view! Also I want to say about restaurants. I was not happy with the restaurants at all. First of all, you have to make the reservation in advance, whIch is totally fine. But we arrived on Tuesday and decided to go to different restaurants every day. But guess what... The next available restaurant was available on Friday! I think this is absolutely not how it supposed to be organized. Food wasn't that great as well. Our favorite restaurant was the Japanese. I absolutely love the entertainment team. These guys worked hard to make people happy and feel their vacation. Also we did a lot of water excersise, aerobic. Overall, we had great time! But next vacation will definitely not at Riu.

Me and my mother visited this so called 5 star resort, and the only 5 star experience i felt was when i left to go back home to the USA. When we arrived like many other who wrote reviews, we as for a two double beds. We were told that there were two beds in the room and when we arrived there was one king bed. After returning to the desk they were able to fix the issue, but told me i would have to wait about 15-20 because the room was not ready yet. Entering the room i was disappointed about the bedding, to include some of the other visitors that stayed in my room without paying....THE ROACHES and the SPIDERS in the toilet. When we went to lunch, the food was semi-warm, and the menu was mostly the same each day. The same with breakfast and dinner. The men staff were excellent. The women staff have a poor attitude. Especially to those of color. The dinner at the select restaurants was good, but order more than one entree if you want to get your money worth. The beach was great among other things as well as the spa services, which was the only thing we enjoyed besides the Rum Punch. The entertainment each night could have used a make over. Overall if you want to enjoy Jamaica stay some place else..

First night, my sister and I decided to lounge around and enjoy the scenery. The second night, my sister had her purse stolen at the front of the lobby. We advised the security and we wanted to stop the credit card in the purse and could not make a call to london because the hotel is not equipped to make calls from the front desk to overseas so they wanted us to go to our room and make the call and the charges be billed to rooms. I was extremely disappointed with this hotel. I have stayed at the RIU in Negril and the service was exceptional service;however the experience at Ocho Rios was extremely disappointing. We also waited over an hour for a bell boy to take our luggage down stairs to lobby. Needless to say I will not be visiting this hotle in the near future.

Nice hotel, very clean, on the beach. Service was just average, food was OK. The beach is wonderful! The only bad thing is that it's too big and quite crowded

it was the most amazing vacation! gorgeous grounds, views, beach front. great food and entertainment. staff was energetic, friendly and always helpful. it was easy to schedule the excursions i purchased ahead of time from orbitz, including our bus trip to and from the airport (orbitz's rates were great, by the way). all in all, it was pretty much perfect.....except the rooms were slightly out-dated. NOT dirty or falling apart at all, BUT the beds were hard, they failed to clean our room one day for no reason, and though they say they will re-stock our bar every other day, they didnt ONCE all week. im sure they would have accomodated me if i complained, but with the all-inclusive not leaving me lacking in food nor drink all week, and everything else being so amazing, it was not a big deal. i would recommend RIU and Jamaica to anyone! families, couples....even two single girls like my best friend and i loved it beyond words!
