visited dec. 21-26, 2011. checked in at 3:15 pm. room key did not work. had to go back to front desk 3 times before the problem was fixed. room light did not work. toilet was broken. refrigerator was not plugged in. maintenance did take care of everything but it took a long time. when i requested a better room i was told by the front desk manager that nothing could be done until the next day. i didnt understand why as it was just at the beginning of checkout time. the beach area was not very clean. had a lot of seaweed. they had one worker trying to clean it up but it took him all day to do so. i never saw anyone on the beach cleaning up trash. at the lobby bar i went to get a cup of tea and there were at least 12 cockroach type bugs on the coffee/water machine. they were also going into the sugar/teabag holder. totally creeped me out. 24 hr sports bar was supposed to have food for those who had an early flight out....not!!! there were a few green apples and that was it. on the bright side, a nice dinner and management cocktail party was provided on christmas eve.

I am staying at this hotel for the 5-th time, because of it's location and service, I didn't have any issues with the staff or personal of this hotel

Nice hotel for people who wants relax. Not so greaty for single people who wants to know other young people. Very good food .

We have only stayed at a few places in Cancun .. but have no reason to leave the Riu Caribe. I don't think there could be a better staff anywhere. The food is good - not gourmet all the time - but good and there's a wide selection on the buffet. The accomodations are getting better with the improvements. The staff is what keeps us coming back.

Renovation going on all the time!!! ORB!TZ did not warn us, neither did the hotel employees upon arrival. We had them move us from our 1st room within the first hour because the construction was so loud. The next room was newly updated, but again, by 7am the next morning, there were hammers, drills, pounding going on in the rooms next to us, on the floors above and below us!!! We were told the workers would be done by 6pm, but many nights they were still working until 8 or 8:30pm!!! The company that transported us to/from the airport was nowhere to be found. They did not meet us in the lobby unpon arrival as promised. Our contact called us at 7:30am to meet with us the next morning and we told him we were'nt even out of bed. He promised to return at 7pm, but he did not show up. We had to ask the hotel to contact them so we could return to the airport. Most staff members at Rui Caribe were very nice, but some of them at the lobby desk were not helpful at all.
