Riu Cancun Hotel - All Inclusive

The Hotel was great, all of the staff was great. The only thing that wasn't exactly what I expected was having to deal with Orb. They are horrible, hours on the phone try to get issues worked out and never getting call backs when they said they would. Once they get your money, they simply don't care, book directly through the Hotel where they at least have good people that care

There was nothing super fancy or exciting about the hotel, but it is a good value for the money if you want all inclusive. The food was good, room was clean and there is a decent beach and nice pool. That's all we needed!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Riu Cancun! The food was excellent, the beach was nice, the rooms were clean, friendly staff, and there was a huge variety of drinks! Shopping is close by and the the dolphin activity at Dreams was great family fun! Our daughters (age 19 and 23) enjoyed the beach when we went to the Chichen Itza. David Perez took care of the dolphin, sunset cruise and Chichen Itza reservations. The only thing I would say negative is that the beds are kind of hard. New Year's Eve was fantastic with decorations and food! We would love to go again sometime!!!

Family of 4 stayed in a Junior suite. The view is nice. Make sure you stay on the 3rd or 4th floor. After several days of buffet, we got really tired of the same food and tried their theme restaurant. We went to the Japanese restaurant and I ordered beef medium but it was so chewy. 2 days later we went back and I ordered the beef rare, it was the same as 2 days ago. We also discovered for the buffet they recycle their food a lot. For example, the fruits they use in the morning to produce those juice are those fruits from previous days and some of them don't look fresh at all. Hashbrown, bacon, etc. leftover from breakfast, they will mix that with something else for lunch. Towards the middle of the week, my younger daughter who is 10 got really sick, vomit, stomach hurts, dizzy. By the end of the week, my husband and my older daughter who is 15 were also sick, same symptom. Right now I am sick, 4 days after we came back. We do not drink alchol. The only thing we drink from the mini bar is water and 7up. Make sure to bring some medicine if you can just in case.

Expected more from a 5 star hotel Rooms were comfortable. Entertainment could have been better. Friendly staff. There should have been more variety in the food section. Wi Fi was weak.

I took my daughter to the Riu Cancun for her 18th birthday and we had a wonderful time. The food was good - especially breakfast. The pools were beautiful and sparkling - we loved hanging out at the edge of the infinity pool! The staff was great. When we returned from a little morning shopping the morning of my daughters birthday, the wonderful staff had decorated our room door and room with balloons and signs and on the bed sat a birthday cake made out of towels with fresh flowers and candy on it! It really made her feel special and important. I am a a loyal customer of Riu and will continue to stay at their hotels whenever I travel.

The Rui Cancun was centrally located to shops and located right on the beach. . The Food was great and alot of it. Our only complaint is any, was the bed and pillows were hard. However when we stated it was a little harder then what we would like, they put a foam top on the bed. We had a Great time and would go back.

This is the 3rd trip to Cancun. We have stayed at Viva Beach the 2 previous times. So the positives are.....better food and more pools. The buffet restaurants have a great selection and the food is pretty good. They have 4 pools, which is nice. As for drink service by the pools or the beach I didn't see much service around. The pool bar closes like at 6. Way too early for me. The negatives are...beach was nice but not much sand area. The beach is really narrow and there are alot of rocks in some area. We went during low season which was not a problem getting space but I'm sure during high season it would be really hard to get a lounge chair or palapa if you're not up by like 7 a.m. The bars are all ok. The sports bar is my favorite because they stay open 24 hours. Pretty much at midnight everything in the hotel is closed. They turn off all lights and there's really nothing to do at the hotel but hang out at the sports bar. Oh, there is a small club that opens at 11 and closes at 2. It's ok to go for a while The rooms....well...what can I say. We got a suite and it was really big. Yes, the rooms are outdated and the beds are hard, but I can live with that for a few days. What I cannot tolerate is the fact that our room had ROACHES....YES ROACHES! We killed like 5 roaches in our restroom. We told the front desk and all they said was they would send someone to take care of it but did not give us another room. When we got back in our room that night it smelled like raid. Overall, even though the Viva Beach is a smaller hotel I had a better experience there. I would probably not go back to this hotel again.

Great, people bent over backwards to ensure our stay was good. The greyline folks on the ground were very helpfull.

Riu Cancun is a terrific resort. We were greeted immediately with friendliness and a drink while checking in. The staff was amazing! the rooms were average but very clean. The food was OK. Dinners ala cart were better than the buffets. Make dinner reservations as soon as you check in or you will not get a reservation. Overall a great relaxing and entertaining resort!

The Riu Cancun is a beautiful and well rounded hotel. all the amenities and entertainment one needs. I booked a junior suite and really liked the look and feel of the room itself. The beds however could be a bit more comfy. The cleaning staff did an excellent job at keeping it looking great everyday while adding their own little flair to it ;) It puts a smile on ones face seeing a large heart made out of a blanket in a clean room. The food was amazing and I ate plenty of it to prove it. My only real gripe is that the allowed children in the pool with the swim up bar... kinda would like that area kid free and a little more adult atmosphere.
