Residence San Giorgio Hotel Matera Guest Reviews
Very unique experience in the Sassi area of Matera. Gianluca speaks very good English (understands American English much better than British). the residence really needs a small microwave, as it was cold--food on plate, coffee in cup, was chilled very quickly. There are enough little alcoves to fit one nicely. Map of Matera and I Sassi really need to be provided to guests. All of the ancient buildings and stairways look alike, very easy to get lost, as signs of street names minimum! Locals very helpful with directions, but if you dont speak Italian, you'd be in trouble. I would return, definitely. Wished the price was lower, tho. Queen bed in loft, queen sofa bed and also fold-up cot type bed. There's no'service' You cook, clean, make beds yourself, which was fine for me. Didnt go out much, wasnt aware of exact location in Matera and without map very easy to get lost. But Gianluca and wife very friendly and hospitable. Got taxi to take me to Bari airport
