The staff was amazingly friendly. I couldn't believe how hard they tried to communicate with me since I unfortunately cannot speak Chinese. They did their best to give directions to points of interest in town and to explain Chinese restaurant menu items. For this reason, I would recommend this hotel to any foreign (non-Cantonese speaking) visitor. Also, as I was leaving I realized that one of the latches on my suitcase was broken. I merely asked to borrow some tape at the Cashier's Desk, but they insisted on fixing the suitcase for free! They took the suitcase to their "maintenance department" and had it fixed within ten minutes! I was utterly impressed with their work ethic and helpfulness.

Yes, I recommend this hotel to my friends. The room is clean and staff are friendly and well disciplined. In my personal opinion, this hotel is much better than hotels in Hong Kong. My card-type room key had trouble, but hotel staff fix it soon.

The Ramada hotel had a very helpful and friendly staff. They really try to make your stay enjoyable. The buffets are great which is just as well because there only seem to be 2 restaurants within a reasonable walking distance. 4 star hotels in China are typically between USD 50 - 70 per night. I found it a bit irritating that the rate went up 250% because the Guangzhou fair was running. I might stay in Shenzhen next time and take the commuter train. I would save a good $100 per day. The hotel itself is perfectly fine by western standards. The hotel does run a free shuttle to the fair (about 20 kms). It starts at 0845 and runs every 30 minutes until about 1000, then every 45 minutes until 1230. It starts from the fair at about 1645 and runs until 1930. Be EARLY though, the buses fill up fast. They also sell a box lunch in the lobby which saves you the hassle of waiting in long lines for any of the on-site food.

More airy than most Chinese hotel rooms but I did have a non-smoking one. Good value for money and a very reasonable reflexology place downstairs.
