Ramada Pearl Hotel Guangzhou

The staff was amazingly friendly. I couldn't believe how hard they tried to communicate with me since I unfortunately cannot speak Chinese. They did their best to give directions to points of interest in town and to explain Chinese restaurant menu items. For this reason, I would recommend this hotel to any foreign (non-Cantonese speaking) visitor. Also, as I was leaving I realized that one of the latches on my suitcase was broken. I merely asked to borrow some tape at the Cashier's Desk, but they insisted on fixing the suitcase for free! They took the suitcase to their "maintenance department" and had it fixed within ten minutes! I was utterly impressed with their work ethic and helpfulness.

Yes, I recommend this hotel to my friends. The room is clean and staff are friendly and well disciplined. In my personal opinion, this hotel is much better than hotels in Hong Kong. My card-type room key had trouble, but hotel staff fix it soon.

Ramada Pearl Hotel Guangzhou

The Ramada hotel had a very helpful and friendly staff. They really try to make your stay enjoyable. The buffets are great which is just as well because there only seem to be 2 restaurants within a reasonable walking distance. 4 star hotels in China are typically between USD 50 - 70 per night. I found it a bit irritating that the rate went up 250% because the Guangzhou fair was running. I might stay in Shenzhen next time and take the commuter train. I would save a good $100 per day. The hotel itself is perfectly fine by western standards. The hotel does run a free shuttle to the fair (about 20 kms). It starts at 0845 and runs every 30 minutes until about 1000, then every 45 minutes until 1230. It starts from the fair at about 1645 and runs until 1930. Be EARLY though, the buses fill up fast. They also sell a box lunch in the lobby which saves you the hassle of waiting in long lines for any of the on-site food.

Ramada Pearl Hotel Guangzhou

More airy than most Chinese hotel rooms but I did have a non-smoking one. Good value for money and a very reasonable reflexology place downstairs.

The Ramada Pearl is undergoing renovations. We had a Riverview Suite on the 12th Floor which had just been renovated. It was excellent and extremely spacious. The staff were hospitable, extremely efficent with good English.

The public areas of the hotel are tired but appear to be on the verge of being upgraded. The indoor swimming pool was excellent. There is also a resort size outdoor pool but swiming indoors was preferable to inhaling the notorious pollution of Guangzhou.

Find it expensive and because of the price we expected a good service but compared to other places we stayed at in Guanzhou during the fair period can say that at least there the service is very good, the hotel offers all the facilities you can require and bar prices are much more reasonable than most hotels in Guanzhou during the Fair - although it is not placed in the best places for shopping or for the fair or for visiting it offers a nice view and will definitely go back there.

Slow check-in/out. Were not able to give me a no-smoking room as requested/booked and made me wait 40 minutes before I could actually go to my room. However they did give me a drinks coupon as compensation. The rooms/bathrooms are still better than average in China for that price.

It was good value for money. Because we had requested the no-smoking room of which there was only one on each floor (we were told), the room looked onto a building site where the work started at 6 AM. Noisy!

The hotel itself is OK, but not spectacular. At the moment, other, similarly-priced hotels in Guangzhou offer better value for money.

The location is rubbish. It''s miles from anywhere. There are no shops and hardly any restaurants nearby. It''s really quite inconvenient for most shopping / entertainment / office places in GZ.

Good place to stay unless you have ideas of visiting downtown which is quite a distance. Located at an easy drive distance from the Panyu Exhibition centre. Clean decent size rooms, comfortable bed, furniture and brilliant sheets and pillows. All standard amenities are taken care of. Electronic safe did not work (atleast in my room). Excellent view from the River side rooms, was provided one room at river view at no extra charge on request! Rooms on the top floors have computers built in for e-mail etc. with superfast speed of access. Breakfasts are okay with some stuff repeated everyday can be boring if staying for a week. Overall beats the Guangzhou ''blues'' by being a bit away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Will recommend the hotel and definitely stay again here!

Very good service, excellent facilities and a good value for the money. However, I was looking for a laptop port in my room and couldn't find one. I would definitely recommend this place again.
