Raffles Hotel is situated in the heart of Singapore financial district, near Suntec International Convention & Exhibition Centre. While in Lion City, vacationers head to Resorts World Sentosa to place bets at the casinos or have fun at Universal Studios Singapore and Marine Life Park.

I have stayed in the best hotels in the world - Beverly Hills, Monaco, Bangkok, Hong Kong. This isn't one of them. Three times I had to ask for my tea at breakfast - it came as ordinary breakfast - I'd asked for Earl Grey. I was working on a book til past midnight. The fruit tray had not been replenished from the previous night. Nor had the tea bags. The first milk came out solid, as did the second. Yes, these are little things, but they make excellence. The light from the corridor shines in your room all night; no gym; it's living on its name and past glories. A great shame.

The adage "you only get what you pay for" holds good when people say the Raffles is expensive, because it is not expensive when one considers value for money as opposed to looking for "a bargain". Raffles is a truly great experience, one which any traveller would want to repeat.

My wife and I stayed a Raffles some years ago and it was a perfect experience. This time was different, not quite so special. Bathroom and dressing room had an unpleasant smell and the general impression of the quality was not surpassing any of the many places we have stayed in over the years. Sad but true.

We found the Raffles experiance very rewarding. The hotel was 1st rate we could find no fault with antyhing at the hotel, and would recommend the hotel without hesitation to anyone. If we go back to Singapore we would now only stay at Raffles!!!!!!!
