Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World Guest Reviews
Stayed here last weekend with my girlfriend and it was a nightmare. Specifically requested a double room but was given a twin room on arrival. A quick word with reception got it changed. No problem there. However the room they transferred us to had a faulty air conditioner which actually heated the room up to 24.5 degrees celcius at night. Complained to managment who initially denied there was a problem. They told me to open the window if it got hot. I did this but it was so noisy with all the cars beeping (due to it being located right in the centre of Shanghai on the busiest roads) that I couldn't sleep so waited til it was cool, closed the window and finally settled. Both of us woke up in stifling heat about two hours later when the room warmed up again so again the window was opened and we slept once it had cooled again. This process of waking in heat and having to use stone age air con techniques was repeated through the night. The following day when I insisted it was too hot they brought an engineer to the room who found a fault with the airflow. We were given another room which was cooler. I was hoping to get a decent sleep on the second night but this was no to be as I had ordered room service who called and woke us up early to clarify which room we were in despite me writing the new room number clearly on the breakfast card. I couldn't get back to sleep after this and thought it really bad that when I complained again to management they didn't care. I pointed out the 100% satisfaction gurantee on the card wallet given to us at check in and said I wanted my money back. 'Oh...sorry...no you booked through an agent so it doesn't count' was what the manager told me. So where does it say that on the guarantee card you gave me? 'Sorry but it doesn't count. You can have a sandwich or a free ride to the train station in the hotel limo if you like.' A sandwich? How would that help me get a good night's sleep? She was clearly missing the point that a guarantee is a guarantee and if I'm just going to be treated like agency booking scum then please let me know at the outset. In short I was more appalled by the attitude and refusal to honour their word more than the actual stay itself. Before she hung up she assured me she would tell her senior manager that I was unhappy with her refusal to honour the guarantee and he would get back to me promptly. I knew at the time she was just fobbing me off to get rid of me and it's been five days now with still no word. I plan to report this hotel to radisson through their customer complaints process. The would-be-funniest-if-i-wasn't-so-annoyed moment: when the manager told me that as a goodwill gesture they would make sure I got the best rate on my next visit or anyone I recommended. Firstly the whole point of booking through an agent was I got a cheaper rate than radisson's best rate (I don't understand it either by the way) and secondly I would rather sleep in the park next door with the homeless than stay here again. At least it would offer value for money!

An excellent hotel in an excellent location. We had a suite on the 27th floor and it was extremely large and clean. The hotel staff were polite and helpful. The location is very central on Nanjing Road, close to the metro, shopping and you can walk to everything. The quality of the food is very good although it can be pricey. However, we found most western restaurants in Shanghai on the pricey side. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at the Radisson last week and I was very impressed. Staff very obliging. I have travelled to Shanghai many times in the past 4 years and this is the best accomodation I have experienced so far. I thought the breakfast was overpriced so chose not to eat there. This didn`t inconvenience us though, as there are many outlets in Nanjing Rd. Also, didn`t use the dining facilities as there are too many choices elsewhere. I am planning my next trip and will definitely be staying there again!
