Radeka Downunder Underground Motel Coober Pedy Guest Reviews
rooms good,back packer average

First time I have stayed in a back packers so the shared bathroom thing was a little daunting (and busy) at first, though by the second day all was good. Stayed in a budget double room - 6.5m below deck - this room hs a lockable door. Kitchen was very clean and all the cooking tools that you would need. The circulation fan in the room was a little noisy but it drowned out the footsteps of the people coming downstairs late at night. Martin is a nice guy and will help with any questions. Suggest you do the 4 hour tour as well. Jim lead the tour and what he does not know about CP is not worth knowing. He has lived there for 47 years. Two supermarkets are very close but they get low on Fresh food after weekends - they only get deliveries on Thursday - so stock up. Cheapest fuel is in the back street heading towards the big winch. Do not miss the Old Timers underground mine tour - $10 each.

Staff very helpful, genuine, and human! Quality of facilities were a very positive surprise--we did not expect the very tidy, clean, organized and completeness in a "backpacker" type facility--we did stay in one of the independent rooms, but all was in good order and though not posh, it had everything needed and was obviously well cared for.

Pleasant place to stay, the double room was a lot more spacious than the pictures look. Short walk to bathroom which was very clean. Big clean kitchen. Good location in coober pedy. Owner very helpful. Free pickup and drop off at Greyhound stop very handy as well.
