Hotel with a character in an excellent location. Internet works only in lobby. Very good restaurant. Personnel could be more helpful.

The staff at the hotel were wonderful and very helpful. After only 3 nights staying in the hotel, my friend and I had developed a rapport with the staff and they would give us great tips for the day as we headed out with our itinerary. The food in the hotel is also great - we ate one night in the bar which serves the same food as their restaurant. From anywhere on the grounds you can't here the sounds of the city or cars passing by. The result is a very peaceful atmosphere once you're inside the compound, either resting at the pool or sleeping in your room. The only reason I didn't give it a 5/5 on location is because it's not located in the center of Coimbra, but the walk across the bridge is so short and easy that it's not a big deal in the end.
