Queens Hotel York

This place is walking distance to the train station and other places of interest, the rooms were good and I loved the bed; so very comfy. The bathroom was good with a great shower but what ruined it for me was the noise, not traffic noise but people outside, first about 9pm I head bottles as if there was a pub next to it, and it was geting a delivery, then all night was partying, yelling. It was awful. I do not know what it was or if it was usual but this was mid week and I got about 2 hours sleep.

Good value for money, suprised it is only 2 star as it is much better than some of the 3 star hotels I have stayed in.

Hotel in good location with easy access to York centre. Hotels' underground car park has only 18 spaces which you need to reserve before your stay, we missed out but used the nearby (3min walk) NCP car park which cost around £15 overnight. Hotel itself is clean but the decor is looking a little tired especially in the public areas. Buffet breakfast was good, room larger than expected and the staff friendly and helpful. Overall a pretty good experience for a short stay.

Well located; in walking distance of York railway station and within the city walls in easy reach of shops and restaurants and local attractions. Would definitely stay again.

This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The mattress was the worst thing I've ever experienced. One side of it had completely collapsed and had springs coming out. Once I told staff their solution was to put blankets between the base and the mattress - why I have no idea - all that managed to do was raise the foot of the bed by 3 inches or so. Very disapointed that this hotel is recommended by [website]. Only thing going for it is the location.

Good central location. We had to park in the multi-storey but it was very close by. Hotel room reasonable but if I went again I would try to get one with a view of the river instead of a wall. Breakfast good, choice of cereals, yoghurts etc. as well as the cooked breakfast which was nice and hot. We had a three course evening meal which was very good and and a reasonable price. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Would recommen.ld if you want to be in the heart of York

Will definately stay at this hotel again. Brilliant value for money. Although we didn't have dinner in the hotel the menu looked lovely. The breakfast was lovely .very hot, and plenty of it . Will be recommending this hotel to our friends.

We had dinner in the restaurant on our first evening and our whole party can thoroughly recommend the quality of the food and the efficiency and friendliness of the staff.

We had a very noisy room on the first floor next to the lifts, outside our window was the staff smoking area of the bar next door which was also noisy. The room was simple but okay, they need to upgrade the 14" portable TV though. The breakfast was basic and crowded with tables right up to the serving counter making access really difficult. Very upleasant. The best thing about this hotel is the location, easy access to the city centre and attractions.

The Queens Hotel was an excellent venue. The staff were extremely helpful, going that 'extra mile' to ensure my stay was as enjoyable as possible. The breakfast buffet was very good. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is a strange mix. The rooms are large and spacious, but the bathrooms are a bit tired. The corridors and shared areas are a bit shabby, but the breakfasts were excellent. I can't decide whether this is a luxury or budget hotel, but I enjoyed the locations and its closeness to the centre of York.

The staff were very helpful and the service was very good. Breakfast was fresh and the kitchen staff very willing to cook fried eggs as requested.Only slight downfall was that no boxes of tissues were provided in rooms. Would stay there again and recommend to others.

We caught a taxi from the railway station which cost just over £4 to the hotel which was in a good location for us. The hotel has lift facilities for those who can't manage stairs. Reception staff were fine and so was the room which was reasonably spacious. The bathroom was a good size but the hot water service was the worst I've experienced so far in the UK. We found it really difficult to regulate with the temp varying considerably while showering. Breakfast included in the price was the usual hot buffet, cold cereals, fruits etc which was all fine, but don't expect any service from staff on duty, eg "May I have a glass of water please?" - "I'll get a jug, leave it over there and help yourself". October 2008, Australians.
