Queens Hotel Crystal Palace London
3.6 out of 5

We chose this hotel as it was in a convenient location for us to spend 2 nights chilling & eating out. Crystal Palace has a wealth of restaurants, all within 5-8 minutes walk. We tried at least 3 restaurants over the weekend. The hotel is what you would expect for a 2/3 star hotel. Don't expect the Hilton! The first room we were allocated was dark & dingy with a very small window near the top of the ceiling. We asked to be moved. The 2nd room was much better, although the bathroom was a little tired. The hotel could do with a good slap of paint and fixing of tiles in the bathroom. The breakfast was the usual continental affair. We opted for an English breakfast which you have to pay £3.50 for. It was ok - if only a little overdone. All-in-all we got what we paid for - a room to relax in after our days out eating and drinking and not having to worry about driving home!!

The room was very disappointing, the first room were offered - the number did not exist. The second room was dirty and the third room we only accepted because we were tired and it was too late to go elsewhere. There was not plug on the TV. T here was tea and coffee but no kettle.

We booked a standard double room and got one that barely allowed us to move around the bed, space was so tight,no wardrobe space at all,the room was so small that the bedhead was out of alignment with the bed so one could get around to the other side. Linen, bottom sheet didn't even reach to bottom of side of mattress, the blanket, my dog sleeps on one in better condition, and bedspread, had stains on it one can only wonder about(shudder)? Plenty hot water when it eventually came through, breakfast on the top floor, 4 flights up,no help in or out with suitcases and evening meal and breakfast left a lot to be desired, couple all this with towels spread on hall floors to catch water dripping from first floor ceilings, we won't be returning.

Having read all reviews, the only + for this hotel is the price of GBP 38 for a double room with parking. The room is not clean as expected. Heater not working. NO PILLOWS and QUILTS. Bare bed. Was told to wait for 5 min for the housekeeping to come but finally waited 3 hrs and gave up. Was told there's no lift when there's actually one. Big sign for NO REFUND by the reception. Needed to pay in FULL before even taking the keys! Big sign for NO REFUND by the reception which looked a bit scary. However, it looks like the other side of the hotel is doing renovations and looks much nicer, which probably would result in increase in price. Let's wait and see...

Helpful & friendly staff led to a pleasing stay at the Queens hotel. I was a bit apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but after staying for five nights I would recommend it to anyone.

This hotel is very, very far away from any attractions in London. It will take you at least 20-30 minutes by train, longer by bus. Hotel room was terrible, walls stained, bathroom very poorly designed. Small tv placed far away from bed so had to turn up very loud, remote did not work at all. Door to room did not lock. Thin walls. Continental breakfast was included but you had to pay extra for 'English Breakfast'. Would not stay here again, better to pay more for higher quality and better location.

For the price it is very reasonable, especially if one likes something effortlessly retro.

When you walk in the foyer of the hotel it seems quite inviting but the room was very basis and smelt very badly of stale cigarette smoke, it would have been nice to be asked if we wanted a non smoking room, I know the room was very cheap but I found this very off putting to have to sleep with the smell, and it was to cold to leave the window open. Excellent location for restaurants and bars

Quite good value but I felt that as I had paid a budget price the room I was given was tucked away at the back of the hotel and could have benefitted from some basic maintainance eg: cracked tiles in the bathroom. But very good location
