The hotel is located on the beach front - however, we were advised that it is not safe to walk on the beach front opposite the hotel if you had any belongings with you such as a camera etc. due to the large number of muggings that have taken place.their recently. We have travelled all over South Africa for 3 weeks and this is the only area that I didn't feel safe. If I had been aware of the incidents around the Hotel Edward I wouldn't have booked that particular hotel.

Nice hotel two feet away from the beach. Breakfast and dinner buffet have a great choice of products. Services are very good with very friendly people. Small swimming pool is compensated by the beach being right on the other side of the street. Limited opportunities on the evening due to the "dark side" of the city.

Probably the best hotel in Durban: standard rooms with standard facilities. Friendly and efficient staff but do not expect to go back home with unforgettable memories !
