Porto Surroundings Climate
The Porto surroundings have a mild Mediterranean climate with hot summers and chilly winters. The highs can reach 23-25°C in the peak heat of August, while the winter lows fall to 5°C. The area gets plenty of rain all year, but the wettest months are December through February, when precipitation of 15-19 cm per month is normal.
Getting There & Around
Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport is 15 km from the centre of Porto, and airport shuttle buses can take you into town inexpensively. The city has two large train stations that offer service to major cities in Portugal, Spain and France.
You can get around Porto efficiently using the metro-rail, city buses and cable cars. Taxis are available, but at higher rates.
