I highly recommend the Portman Ritz-Carlton. The staff was most helpful and polite, and the service was wonderful. The room was elegant, spacious and impeccably clean. Great location and excellent value for money. Looking forward to my next visit!

Heating tends to be a problem around Shanghai in winter. The hotel aircon DOES switch to heating, but needs to be set to do so by the guest -- pack warm clothes between November and March!

Huge hotel with lots of services. Prices for buffets, restaurants and drinks were far to high for what you got. There are better values in Shanghai. We find the Ritz-Carltons over-priced, given that the service is no better than what you get in other hotels of similar rating.

The best part was location, location and location. It was easy to get to all the markets and sightseeing places.
