one night there was a party by the pool in the middle of the hotel- put on by the hotel with a 100 or more people at the party that last until 2am or so in morning-- extremely loud--kept the family up most of the night--- food ok -- nothing special--

The location of the hotel and amenities are very good and the staff is really friendly. I had a good experience and I would go back to that location but not in all inclusive regime- the food and drinks were poor and I am not a picky person

Orbitz representative did not explain that there are 2 hotels under this name... I was under the definite impression that I had booked at the GRAND Hotel on the water, but not where I was booked. I found the CLUB hotel inferior in all aspects, except friendly employees - food was not good with even imitation chocolate used in the desserts (breakfast was great), and luke warm water in the bathroom. The music around the activities pool (and evening entertainment) was LOUD enough to waken the dead with the boom boom of the base, damage to many ears... making it additionally hard to ate a peaceful lunch. The CLUB Hotel closed for renovations on our last day so they moved us to the GRAND. The staff in both hotels were pleasant and helpful.

Our experience at this hotel was not a pleasant one. I made our reservation, thru Orbitz, because we thought we were getting a better deal with Orbitz, so we rereserved at Plaza Pelicanos GRAND Beach Resort. Upon arrival, they moved us to the Plaza Pelicanos CLUB. According to hotel, that's where we made our reservations even though our print out stated otherwise. When I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager about this, they refused to allow me to speak with anyone. Our Gray Line agent was also confused as to why we were moved to the Club. We were given a toll free number to call Orbitz regarding the confusion, but we were never able to get thru and the hotel was charging us for all calls. Two days later, our air conditioner stopped working and we were told that we should have been moved to the Grand the night before. Due to the failure of communication on their part we lost half a day of our vacation. Reserving at this hotel, thru Orbitz, is very deceptive. I would not recommend this to any travelers.

In recent years new management has changed hotel staff frequently, resulting in open confusion in procedures. The staff that was there in the Las Glorias era was more service oriented. Now much of the friendly service is "overtrained" - bothering you too often to ask how all is; ongoing remodeling, pool activities too loud, disturbing guests in rooms; very high pressure to buy Shell Vacations which are overpriced and overhyped. The biggest draw of Pelicanos was always the beautiful park: it is about to be built over by the owners and Shell Vacations - ruining the wonderful ambience permanently. New Year's Eve 2009 was a disaster: rude service , terrrible food: the old Fiestas will be greatly missed. The new chef is not up to standard and the all-inclusive dinners are sub-par. We still like it better at Pelicanos than elsewhere and the time share staff are wonderful. But in the food and service it has seen better years and the prices are rising faster than the quality.
