Cabanatuan City General Information

As Metro Manila continues to swell and expand, Central Luzon is looking increasingly appealing to demographers, CEOs, government officials and indeed, ordinary citizens. As a result, a burgeoning outcrop of urban communities is being targeted for new growth and development, most notably in the province of Nueva Ecija. If this reputation indeed takes hold, Cabanatuan City will be a major focal point. Though not the capital of Nueva Ecija, the city of close to 300,000 people is the unequivocal business, trade and academic heart of the province. As the grisly site of the infamous Japanese-led “Bataan Death March” and subsequent U.S.-led rescue mission, Cabanatuan is already familiar to Second World War history buffs. There are other notable reasons to visit this modest city however, from the heritage Churches of Nampicuan, Carranglan, and Pantabangan to the Historic Barrio Labi. Farm tours throughout Nueva Ecija provide a singular glimpse into rural life a relatively short distance from the magnificent sprawl of Metro Manila. Cabanatuan is also comfortable, ideal gateway to Aurora Memorial National Park and Manleluang National Park.
