Peppers Mineral Springs Retreat Hepburn Springs Hotel Guest Reviews (2)
We were really looking forward to a school holiday break and had never been to Daylesford before. We had stayed in Peppers properties in NZ and really enjoyed the experience. However, on the second day of our stay at Peppers, I was injured when a sandstone rock, which was unsecured, fell off a rock wall surrounding the fountain on the Peppers property and landed on my right big toe, causing a break in two bones. The Assistant Front Desk Manager was fantastic. She quickly organised first aid and a doctors' appointment and taxis all or which she re-imbursed me for immediately. I couldn't have asked for better customer service from her and believe she will go a long way with that attitude. However, when my doctor said I couldn't drive for a week and would have to stay on, I asked for a reduced rate on the villa to cover the inconvenience. Not only did we have to cancel many of the activities we had planned (e.g. horse riding, walking around the botanical gardens, paddling on the Lake etc.), I was also due back in Melbourne for work reasons, and this affected my business. I then came into contact with the hotel manager. I feel he has issues with women. He was very vague about a reduced villa rate and said he would get back to me. I felt he may have little autonomy. He still hadn't advised a room rate that night, and I phoned reception to say that at that late stage we would be staying at least one extra night. When we went in to breakfast the next morning, he tried to intercept us. I said we would speak after breakfast, as they were finishing serving in about 20 minutes. To my surprise he asked the coffee girl twice (!) to "remind" me to speak to him. This was a very inappropriate way to speak to a guest. A little respect goes a long way. When I spoke to him at reception shortly after, he thought he was doing me a great favour by offering me the staff rate for the villa where we were staying. He was very reluctant to offer me any further nights saying they were booked up. He even asked me to sign a release form regarding public liability. Why would I do that when he offered me no special concession room rate? There is a lot of accommodation available in the Daylesford area and next time we'll look for a bed and breakfast or stay in a country cottage where we can see Australian wildlife. We won't return to Peppers until the management changes. P.S. There were also several minor maintenance issues with the villa which reception quickly attended to. The villa needed a complete paint, and touch-ups in the bathroom.

Peppers hepburn springs is a great hotel retreat, the rooms are spacious and clean with an amazing double spa bath in the spa rooms. Very relaxing surrounds being close to everything such as the bathhouse and great resturaunts and cafe's. The common room in the main building is a great place to sit by one of the fires and read with a glass of wine.
