Pedras Da Rainha Hotel is located close to the fishing village of Cabanas. Tavira town, situated on the southern shores of Portugal, is situated at a distance of 5 kilometres from the hotel. Notable landmarks of the city are the Ilha de Tavira and Castro dos Mouros, an ancient palace.

Rather than a conventional hotel this is a holiday village with a range of apartments, bungalows and villas. The site is beautifully maintained and there is plenty of space between buildings. At the time we visited(late Sept 11) it was very quiet though all the facilities were open. Swimming pool was a balmy 25-27degrees C. The rooms were cleaned 5 days a week with change of towels and sheets twice per week. Cabanas itself which is where the "hotel" is,is a small fishing village which has been developed to an extent but without losing the fishing village feel. Staying at Perdras da Rainha entitled us to a free unlimited ticket for the small boat which takes passengers from the harbourside in the village to a large sandy beach reached across a lagoon. All in all a quiet relaxing spot which I would recommend both for mature couples (there are no nightclubs!) and families with small children. P da R itself is excellent value for money.
