Park Central Hotel New York
3 out of 5

This room had an unhindered view of Times Square, a beautiful view, and was the saving grace of our stay here. Park Central Hotel is just a hotel - nothing special but nothing outstanding, and a bit of a mixed bag. It is currently under renovation so hopefully that will spruce things up a bit. Upon arrival things seemed a bit out of control. A sign on the front sliding door stated not to use them, so we struggled through the revolving door with our cases only to turn around and see a staff member walk straight through the sliding door?! On the other hand they are implementing a new elevator control system to avoid getting a "stopping all floors" situation, and it works really well. Another strange thing - check out was not until midday, so we went out and came back at 11:40 AM only to find our room cards had been deactivated, and getting them reactivated took about 20 minutes and very frustrating. Anyway, it is in a great location and if things are better once renovations are complete, it could be a really good place.

If the tourist area of times square is your thing, then this hotel is a great choice, a big hotel full of tourists and close to time square. This was the first time I stayed so close to this area, (normally stay around Chelsea). The big hotel lacked that personal service, was quite noisy at night and a surprise... no A/C! This was a last minute booking as I extended my stay in NYC and the hotel I was at was fully booked. My preference is to stay around Chelsea 23rd to 28th streets around 7th ave. Close to subway that gets you uptown or downtown in no time.

This hotel is not worth the money. The rooms are disgusting. This is not a four star hotel whatsoever!

We had a lovely time at this hotel. The location is perfect! Walking distance to Times Square, MOMA, Central Park, Radio City Music Hall... its perfect! Very clean rooms, staff was alright- not rude but not overly friendly. Only thing that turned me off, was the random phone calls to the room at 7am.

After reading the reviews of this hotel, I was a bit skeptical of the property. However, I was pleased with what I received for a very reasonable rate for NYC standards. I got a clean room every night, met very courteous staff, and was in a very convenient location. I'm comfortable with the Subway and it is right nearby. I didn't use the restaurant, but liked the idea of the breakfast stand in the lobby in the morning. Seemed very reasonably priced. This is a good 3 star quality hotel, not luxurious. Room size was just right, and would have been for two (I was travelling alone). The only dislike for this hotel is one I have is with the entire industry on internet access. Charging $15/day is outrageous. For me on this trip, the cost would have been equivalent to what I pay at home for very high speed access. The industry needs to wake up and start providing this service as part of the package, just like they provide the flat panel TV and iPod enabled clock radio. This made my connectivity less convenient, since I then just had to do work on my phone, though I would rather have been on my laptop. However, this is a nice property. Just not designer.

My daughter and I were in NYC for an audition for her. I booked a room at the Park Central Hotel, having never stayed before but I am a frequent traveler to NYC for business and pleasure. We loved it! Friendliest staff from the doorman, the gentleman that checked us in, the bellmen, the concierge....everyone. We will stay only there from now on! Loved it!!

Is quite comfortable and the location is really good. Somehow the service is just ordinary, amenities is kind of old. Compare with their cost, I will say is a fine hotel.

This hotel was located perfectly, it was clean and convenient. But I cannot think of a single reason why I would choose it again. In fact, I would probably try some other hotel. I found the staff especially unfriendly. When we asked how we could go to the Metlife Stadium, they said the cheapest way was to take their car service ($85). We took a cab instead for 50 bucks, and came back with train for 8 dollars! I understand they are trying to run a business, but lying should not be the way to go. If I want to summarize my experience with Park Central in one word, it would be blah.

The staff at the desk and others were very helpful in offering info about the hotel or how to get to other locations. The hotel has a history of celebrities guest and other sinisters individuals like Arnold Rothstein and Albert Anastacia. The hotel is also very well located. Close to places that we wanted to see/visit eg. Central Park, Rockerfeller Center, Time Square ...

Corner room, larger than expected. Very clean. Bathroom had rather large windows that made the bathroom very cold. Great location, subway next block. Would stay there again. Staff friendly and helpful

Things didn't start too well. We arrived at 8.30pm with kids knackered and sleeping. First problem: No bell staff to help with luggage, so had to drag luggage and sleeping kids into hotel ourselves. Second promblem: rooms not ready! looked at the desk screen and the room status column for all the rooms listed was a solid block of red with 'dirty' written for all the rooms. After much argument Bell staff collect bags and we're offered a room to 'rest'. I'm guessing their aim was to get us out of the lobby ASAP. Had to sit in grubby room for nearly 2 hours for our rooms to be prepared. Finally in our rooms at 10.30pm. One room had no net curtain or drapes just a balckout curtain and both had no functioning extractor in bathroom - apparently no extractors were working and problem was bieng fixed. Next day more complaining and alternative rooms offered, but not suitable. Finally Manager agreed to have faults fixed and room discount applied along with complementary breakfast for 2 days for 7 people. The hotel sorely needs refurbishing and the 4 star rating is erronous. The hotel website ues 3.5 stars. This is probably more appropriate. Best thing about the hotel was location - 7th avenue between Time Sq and Central Park.

We stayed here New Years Day in hopes of a nice relaxing vacation. We were awoken 3 times- once by front desk phoning us and twice by security coming into our room from 8am on stating that we were not registered?? What? We had checked in and been given a room key? How could we not be registered? When the front desk finally straightened it out they offered us a late check out of 1pm..too bad that we had been up for hours due to their mistake and lack of efficiency. When I discussed my displeasure with the manager she simply said "sorry"?? I will never stay here again nor recommend this hotel.
