first got there with my wife.. noticed the hotel was a very old building..nothing about this place was nice..standard rooms you expect in a bed and breakfast....the smell of mould was so overpowering..especially on the first floor...the rooms were very old..no fridge..no cuboards..old phone..the picture are nothing like this hotel in real life.. I wouldn't recommend my dog staying here.. it was just disgusting..

The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel has a certain charm in the public areas, but the bathroom I had was bad in several ways: the shower did not drain properly and water built up quite quickly threatening to overflow, there was no cold water in the washbasin (hot only and it became very hot very quickly), and the toilet didn't flush properly (even two or three attempts wasn't always enough to clear it). My bed was ok, but I met another guest in the lift who had a sleepless night due to a lumpy mattress and had just changed his room for the second night

It is in a great spot to get to the rail station and shopping. Make sure you stay in an upgraded turret room, if you want a normal comfortable space to stay in for the long term. We were there for a week and for the most part were only there to sleep. We had no problems while there and would stay there again if we were to ever go back to Birmingham.

A very clean and friendly hotel. Breakfast was very good and was a very reasonable price £6 95 with avery large choice. The rooms were a little on the small side but ok although the bathroom was a little on the worn side. I will stay again.

The hotel met my expectations in most respects, and was good value for money. However, I would suggest that the outdoor smoking area is moved to a place where the smoke doesn't rise through the windows of nearby bedrooms. Also, it is unpleasant to have to pass through groups of smokers huddled together outside the main doors. Other than that, I would recommend the hotel.

Very good value for money in terms of location and inclusion of breakfast. Not very attractive on the inside, but if you just want a cheap room close to the city then this place is fine.

Well placed in the city, the hotel has improved a lot. The service ,food and bar have always been good and now the rooms have been given a make-over it is excellent value. Ask for a room near the lift if you have a problem walking as it is a large hotel .
