Padma Resort Bali At Legian Guest Reviews (32)
This is a great family friendly resort. Although we had booked the deluxe lagoon view room, upon inspection (of 4 rooms in the delux rooms block), we upgraded to the garden chalet PLUS club. The deluxe rooms are OK as such, but we found the furnishings heavy and dark, and each of the rooms we viewed had a strong damp odor (we think due to the humidity combined with the location of the lagoon). We also found the lagoon rooms much noisier than the garden view rooms and far less private. We upgraded for US$60/night, which was money well spent. The rooms are much nicer, lighter, quieter, bigger and better appointed, and best of all, no damp smell and much more private. The membership to the club that came with the upgrade made the stay that much better, and just being able to eat breakfast in the air conditioned comfort of the club area, was worth every cent. The position of the resort is great - walking distance to terrific massage options, restaurants, DVD sellers and the usual street traders. We bought 10 DVD's for $1AUD each, plus, when you buy 10, you get 5 more of your choice thrown in. We bought DVDs not yet released, and they worked fine. Just remember to ask the shop keeper if they are the best quality, and ask to test the disc. Sometimes the English subtitles are obviously translated incorrectly, but that's not such a big deal. One of the best things about the huge pool at the resort is that the water is so lovely and warm (yet refreshing), there is zero chill factor when you get into the water. Our tip is that you go to your local $2 shop and buy a lilo or doughnut floaty and take it with you. So nice to lay on and float for hours, but don't forget to put your sunscreen on. A floaty on the street in Legian will cost you around $20 from a better shop - so try getting one from home. The sun is strong and the humidity is around the 95% mark, but it's a wonderful destination for a fully relaxed break. Airport to Padma - $7 AUD or 70,000 rupia. Trip is about 40 min in traffic, and believe us, there is big traffic in Bali. The taxi is metered (Blue Taxi), and the drivers only earn 30% of the daily takings, plus they pay for the petrol themselves, so do tip generously - it will be so appreciated! Our day trip to Ubud with a private driver cost $40UAUD for the day (5 passengers), and we had the driver for as long as we liked. In our case, 7 hours was plenty. Upon arrival to the airport, you will need to pay $US 25 for your short term visa (better if you have in US dollars), but you can pay with credit card if you don't have it. On departure, you will need 150,000 ($AUS 15) departure tax, so set that aside when you change money and are thinking through your journey back home. Happy travels and enjoy your stay at PADMA. PS - the staff are wonderful and can't do enough for you.

Beautiful Resort, staff very accommodating and it would have to be 1 of the best, if not the best Resort in Legian. Close to shopping, beach, some great Aussie Bars & reaqlly nice restaurants such as Pavone, Mozzarella and also the best Italian & Japanese Restauarant within the Padmna Resort itself. Stayed several times at this resort and will always keep going back.
