We paid $us65 per night and was the best value on our month long trip. Service was excellent and the location would be hard to beat being opposite Peace Park. The hotel has all the charm of the 1920's but with all the modern amenities you need. One hint, if you have a lot of luggage when you arrive just get someone to go up the front steps to the foyer and they will send down a bell person, who have a secret entrance to the hotel at street level Peter Menton Sydney Australia

- Excellent Location and very close to Subway lines 1,2,8 - Antique style room but clean - General Hotel Staff Service - Steps before Entrance. - Need to carry luggage up steps before entrance if bell boy is not around. - Lobby is a bit small

This old colonial building is perfectly located at the end of the Najing Mall, and opposite the Peoples' Park. I didn't think i could get a hotel in the CBD of Shanghai at about AUD $ 60.00 per night. The Mall takes one don to the BUND and the view across to Pudong. The room was very comfortable; the rose wood furniture and modern facilities, was unexpected. Staff spoke some english and were willing to initiate conversations. Hot water abounds, the room was 100% clean. I really have nothing to complain about. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Would have rated higher but air conditioning was not working which was very disappointing. The bed was awesome. Great location. Bath was very relaxing at end of big day.

Could not fault this hotel. Staff were excellent and the room was spacious and comfortable. Location also excellent. Many times in Shanghai and will stay at this one again without any hesitation.

The hotel is located right across the street from Peoples' Square and the subway stop. The subway is very convenient because the number 2 line takes you straight to and from the airport (You do have to get off the train at one stop and walk across the platform before 10). It is really convenient for food and shopping. There are places to shop and eat all over the place. There is a tour bus right across the street. I liked the staff which spoke english. If you want internet access, bring a computer to hook up in the room. Otherwise, you have to go to the business center in the lobby for an additional charge. The room was small, but I really like old hotels. It had a kind size bed, nice linens, wood paneled walls.

Clean comfortable hotel at great location overlooking people's square and right next to metro. Beautiful historic building. Close to great bars, especially Barbarossa, which is inside peoples square. Also convenient base for exploring the bund, Nanjing Lu, xintiandi and tianzifang. Only negative is the staffs english is not fluent and concierge desk not great about giving recommendations on what to do.

The Pacific Hotel Shanghai is rather average, although location is very good. It has all the facilities required but don't expect any great quality. What is bad is the Internet - it is so slow that I could not connect to my e-mail so I switched it off after 10 minutes usage, but they still charged me for 24 hours even if the note in the room says 1 yuan per minute. Also you can hear guests in next rooms and the basin was blocked.

This is a very old hotel and rather worn out. If you are budget tight, you will not mind all these. For the price they charge, it's good enough for me. I only stayed at their standard double room so I assume if you stay at their higher priced room, the interior will be better.

This hotel's breakfast is real bad! It wasn't part of the room rent...but don't eat there! I did because I had people coming there for a meeting. Rooms are tight and small. Locationwise is very good...5 minute walk to the subway and famous Nanjing Road.

This hotel has seen better days and exhudes a feeling of faded glories. It has a great location and very close to the shops and the Park and metro station. Service within the hotel, particularly the bar was slow and overpriced. The rooms were clean and reasonably furnished.

Very good location - just at the start of the Nanjing Pedestrian Shopping Mall. There''s a bank right next door and a Metro line directly opposite too. Overall staff are friendly and helpful - the staff behind the reception desk can understand English, although the concierge can''t. Room is bigger than your average rooms sizes, although the bathtub was clogged (but that could only be our room). Recommended - for location and convenience of getting around.

Hotel is at the best place in Shanghai to go everywhere (cross metro 2 lines) near shopping, museums, restaurants, old city. Surprise check in and out very fast, I had a back room very quiet and clean, every year I visit SH and will be back again in Pacific.

The rooms are OK, although those close to the street are loud in the morning (Qigong in front of the hotel and bad windows). The staff''s English is very bad and they are not really friendly, the breakfast is not the best. But the location is great.
