me and my wife travel abroad quite often to cruise , we usually have to make a hotel stop along the way so with that being said the Hotels location was perfect with the beach being 100 yards from the hotel entrance especially for the price. Make sur you get a room above the 16th. floor and ask for the beach view, the wait to check in & out is at least 1 hour but the room was comfortable and the front desk staff was very pleasant. I WOULD STAFF HERE AGAIN IN A HEART BEAT.

Upon reaching the Rio Othon Palace Hotel, our check-in manager was not friendly and just handed over the keys to a room, slam bang next to the elevator and a low floor, even though our booking specified a higher floor, non-smoking, kingbed room away from elevators. We looked at our room with 2 twin beds and came back to the lobby requesting a change. A different check-in manager was equally unfriendly and only upon asking to speak to the manager, did we finally get a room on the 15th floor with a kingbed and partial oceanview. We thought we were getting a oceanview room when we made the booking and had to settle for less!!!

everything in Rio is very expensive, especially in Copacabana. There are better value hotels in e.g. Ipanema, but I stayed in the RIo Othon palace about 25 years ago for the first time and decided to come back. Overall pleasant experience and nice staff. One MAJOR point of disappointment, 30 Rs per day for internet, which was extremely slow and interrupted constantly. In a hotel like the Othon with a 5 star rating, this should be free.

Awesome location, right on the beach. Standard hotel with dated decor, but still has comfy beds. I think I would have been disappointed if I hadn't have booked a junior suite. The sun room/ lounge was awesome. Nice breakfast

Fantastic location and breakfast at the poolside on the 25th floor, looking over the entire Copacabana Bay and beyond, simply breathtaking. The reception area leaves alot to be desired. It was like an airport waiting area. For an enormous hotel, I was dismayed to find only three cramped ill-lit cubicles for internet access. Only one of these, at the time, was capable of actually accessing the internet - and you had to pay another 20 dollars for an hour of this privilege. The bedroom's walk in shower was really dangerous. The floor pan didn't drain properly so that, even with the tiny rubber mat down, both myself then my wife nearly slipped over trying to exit and there are no handles on the walls to save yourself.

Perfect location but the rooms are very dated and rooms lack suitable desk to work from, as this was a working trip, this would have been very useful.

This hotel has a super location, right on the Copacabana. Unfortunately the rooms are old and not very well maintained. The bathroom floor was really dirty and sticky. Probably the most unclean room I ever stayed at....

Our room provided magnificent view over Copacabana Beach. You had a fabulous view of Sugar Loaf. The restaurant and bar facilities were certainly above average. Care should, however, be taken when using the hotel's car service as it is very expensive when compared to local taxis. Apart from that, the Othon Palace Hotel comes highly recommended.

The facilities of this Hotel are in a very bad condition. The furniture in the loby and rooms are very worn and dirty. The bedsheets and towels are dirty. The entire hotel needs a total revamp. The present condition of the Hotel is that of a 3 star and not a 5 star. The Hotel was a terrible disappointment for us and we certainly will not recommend it to anyone. The beach view is great and the staff are good.

Aging lady of Copacabana. Should be gutted or renovated. Interior contruction very noisy -- avoid when working -- even five floors away can be bad.
