Orla Copacabana Hotel Rio de Janeiro
4 out of 5

Excellent location; what a wonderful view from the pool at roof! Good breakfast buffet, specially the fruits. The rooms are VERY SMALL. The free WiFi is slow, sometimes very slow, but the place is clean, rooms are clean and walking from the front of the hotel to the, beach just requires crossing the street. Ipanema Beach is very close, the hotel is very close to the end of Copacabana, and the beginning of Ipanema, on the Copacabana side. That portion of the beach was my favorite in Copacabana, but, it was a surprise to me the cold temperature of the water in Rio, and the big waves and strong currents.

I had a "Standard" room with no sea view and I knew it at the time I made the reservation. Prepaid and non-refundable for five days. Rio is expensive and the room came close to $ 200 per night (including safe, wifi in the lobby, and breakfast). But my room gave on an inside shaft with a small window, very little light in, and a lot of air conditioning compressors running (for other rooms and the hotel facilities). It was thus noisy and uncomfortable. The room was also very small, perhaps 10 m2 with a bathroom of about 3 m2. I felt claustrophobia staying in the room for more than 30 minutes, except to try to sleep at night. On the positive side, the location of the hotel (just at the end of Copacabana close to Ipanema) is excellent, the shower worked very well, the breakfast was excellent and the lobby was clean and inviting. I requested on my last day to check-out at 7 pm instead of 12 noon; this cost me an additonal $100. In summary: If I go back to Rio again, I will try a different hotel in Copacabana along Avenida Atlantica or pay a little more for a room at Orla with a sea view.

Staff is very helpful and friendly. Great location, 10min walk to Ipanema Beach and located on Av Atlantica, Copacabana Beach. We felt safe even after dark. I would stay at this hotel again.

Over priced for what it is and if you are looking for vakue for money this wil not be it. Walls are very thin so you can hear everything coming from outside and all internal noise. Our bedding sheets has seen better day's and could have done with being replaced.Swimming pool should be reffered to as a splash pool and the Gym and Sauna, well lets just say that it was a utter waste of time saying they have it.There are two things that are good about the place and that is that it is close to the beach and the breakfast was not to bad.If I was offered a room for free for the night to return I will have to turn it down.

Great hotel for area and price. Very clean and staff are very helpful and friendly. We inconvenienced them by ordering a private mini van to pick us up from airport --then because of plane delays could not cancel. However counter staff were very understanding and did not charge us.

Located in a safe, convenient area at the end of Copacabana beach where it meets Ipanema beach. Excellent access to beaches, shops, restuarants. Room was very small and air-conditioning very noisy. Showers are large but the overall bathroom area is small and cramped. Decor is old but clean. A safe is available for a small daily fee of 4 Reals in the room. Our view was of a wall and windows of an adjacent building. Breakfast was a decent selection of options from 7 - 10:30am but the seating area is small so in peak period it can get full. Staff are friendly, very helpful and professional and will provide suggestions for any number of actitives. My wife and I arrived early on the first day at about 7am and while check-in is around 2pm they checked us in immediately and this was great. Business center available with 2 or 3 computers but not free. It is cheaper to go to a nearby internet cafe. Copacabana beach is across the road directly in front of the hotel.

We found the Orla to be well located with very friendly and helpful staff. It is situated in a prime location right on the esplanade at Copacabana. The breakfast was excellent and staff were most helpful. We arrived a little early for normal checkin and they allowed us access to our room which we appreciated. In all our time there was very pleasant and we would highly recommend this place to stay when in Rio.

Wasn't posh but had everything you needed, awesome location... Breakfeast was very good. Reception was also very helpful... We stayed during carnival time so of course the pricing was like 3 times the normal price but everywhere else was the same... I give it a 3.8 out of 5.

The star of the hotel is the staff: they were extremely efficient, friendly and helpful at all times. The hotel is in an excellent location, walking distance from Ipanema and local shops. The rooms were very small though, but they were quiet, clean and in excellent conditions. I would definitely recommend it to a friend - really good value for money!

The hotel was nice, rooms were clean, modern and had comfy beds. The pool was like a bath tub it was so small, a bit misleading when from the picture on the website. The hotel reception were very friendly and helpful when we arrived. They showed us tours we could do and said that they would be able to organise the tours for us. There were no prices on the tours brochure which we both found strange, we later found out that there were no prices because they were pretty much ripping us off. The hotel cab was charging us 65 reals each to go to the airport, we got a normal cab to the airport that day with a meter and it only cost us 50 reals between us. what we picked up from the hotel was that they organised these tours and taxis for you, they charged way more than the standard price and then they got a cut, the driver got a cut and the tour got a cut. nice hotel, just dont book anything through the reception desk

Considering we were here over New year we were impressed with the service and great comfortable beds. Great breakfasts. The pool is like a spa pool-- tiny, but otherwise we were happy with the hotel.

Very good. Nice decor, comfortable rooms and efficient staff. Watch out if you are disturbed by noise on the back rooms that look to busy Nossa Senhora de Copacabana Avenue. Ask for an interior one. Forte de Copacabana and its Colombo Cafe, few blocks away Arpoador beach in Ipanema and fully refurbished nearby Eclipse restaurant help make this hotel a valuable place to stay in Rio. I consider myself a Rio expert and this is definitely a good place to stay.
