Omni Hotel Detroit Guest Reviews
Where do I start. First, this hotel advertised free airport shuttle. That is the only reason I booked it in the first place. It has no airport shuttle. It is $50 car ride to the hotel. Then we took the hotel shuttle to the game. The driver kept wanting to drop us off far from Ford Field, and we kept having to tell him to get closer. Never being there before we didn't want to have to walk too far. I specifically asked the lady at the front desk where we needed to meet after the game for the shuttle to bring us back to hotel. She said, "just call the hotel and the shuttle can pick you up where ever you are." We waited about and hour at a restaurant and called the hotel. A different lady informed us, very rudely, that on game days we are to be picked up at a specific location. I told here that was not what we were told and she said, "I don't know what to tell you, that is how it is." I was so upset, I just hung up, and we ended up getting a cab ride back to hotel $25 total including the tip. This hotel has no vending machines. Also, it is not an area that you would want to walk around so we would have had to get a cab to get something to eat, so we decided to just order room service from the restaurant. It took about an hour to get our food. We signed for it so it would be taken off of the credit card we gave the front desk. 20 minutes later the restaurant called and said we needed to pay cash. I thought that was a little suspicious so I called the front desk and they said they didn't know why we would have to pay cash, and transferred me to the restaurant. They didn't know why we would have had to pay cash either. The man who brought the food came back for the cash and I told him the man I spoke with on the phone said we didn't have to pay cash and he left. VERY SUSPICIOUS. Lastly, after showering in the morning there was no hairdryer to be found. My boyfriend went down to the front desk and the lady working said she would have housekeeping bring one up. 2 hours later when it was time to leave, still no hairdryer! I stay in alot of hotels and I have never been this upset when I left. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

[...] We liked the expansive room size, but we did not have a river view as expected. The hotel is responsible for a book in the room needing a little dusting, and a light that didn't work. When staff was notified, they immediately fixed the light within 5 minutes. However, for the top price we paid[...] even though the room was nice, the view of the river was missing. The bill showed the lower rate, rather than the highest rate we paid. [...] We did enjoy the food and service in the hotel's restaurant, but found ample parking was a bit of a walk from the hotel, the equivalent of a block. However, we enjoyed the river walk and new sites in the area. We particularly liked the outdoor seating areas in front of the Detroit River on the back of the hotel, where Windsor, Canada could be seen.Compared to other trips taken, there is a little room for improvement.
