Oasis Cancun All Inclusive Resort Guest Reviews

3 out of 5

Our family just returned from a 5 day vaction to Oasis Cancun. Our group consisted of 6 of us in our 20s and our parents. As a preface, we booked this resort based almost completely on price, and overall had a decent experience. To start with the positive, the resort is large with a very nice beach, several pools, bars and restaurants. We had beautiful weather in the 80s with sunshine every day, which helped make the trip more enjoyable. Most of the employees are very friendly and eager to help. Based on the price I was concerned about what the food selection may be, however I was pleasantly surprised. There is only a buffet option for breakfast which did get a little old, but for the other meals there were several restaurants to choose from. For lunch we enjoyed the Mexican restaurant, as well as the American restaurant which served great woodfire pizza. For the evening they did have a Brazilian Steakhouse which was a nice option, and good entertainment. For those staying at the Grand Oasis (same resort just nicer rooms and access to a few more restaurants) there were some additional restaurants that looked nice too. As for the downside, checking in was a nightmare. We arrived at 3:00 which was apparently the worst time to arrive. Any guests who had arrived earlier in the day were able to leave their bags at the front door and got a drink wristband and told to come back at 3:00 to check in to their room, so we had about a 45 minute line which was completely unorganized. Once we did get to the front my parents were given a huge run around with getting their room. They were given keys to 4 different rooms that were all occupied (they use actual keys – so they actually got into the rooms of these 4 other people- a little scary) before they were finally given a room that did work. The rooms themselves were standard for a mid-grade resort in Mexico. They were in need of updating and had that funky smell, but overall they were sufficient. The couple pieces of advice I would give to anyone traveling here, would be first, be cautious when going out at night. The second night there my brothers went to Senior Frogs and after leaving they were waiting for a cab outside and were confronted by the police and 2 of them were handcuffed, put into the cop car and then told that they could either go to jail for 36 hours or pay $150 each. They were not doing anything other than waiting for a cab, however, they were obviously targeted for being American. We also talked to a group of people at our resort who were sold counterfeit wrist bands for Coco Bongo in the lobby of the hotel for $65 each. As for drinks, the bars all have "top shelf" (Jose Cuervo, Smirnoff, etc. ) alcohol and the cheap stuff. They will make your drinks with the better stuff if you ask. I don't think most people realized that you could get it, you just had to ask for it. The only other advice would be that if you are looking for a fancy upper class relaxing resort this is probably not your place, however if you are just looking to get away to a nice beach and don’t mind some mediocre rooms and okay food, the Oasis Cancun is a pretty good value for your money.

The website information was not correct. There were only 2 restaurants that we were allowed to eat in and the food was horrible and service was slow. The shower was broken and we never had hot water in 5 days, and there was no bedding and you were only allowed two bath towels and no hand or wash clothes. The air conditioning broke twice, and the staff was slow and inconsiderate.

The Oasis in Cancun is very nice. I have travelled to Cancun many times and have stayed at a various hotels. The Oasis is one of the top ones. The staff and amenities are great. The food and drink are plentiful and yummy ! Thank you Oasis !!!!

I went here for a week in last november with low expectations and I was pleasantly surprised ..resort is very well kept and spotless ..easily a 4 star from western standards ..amenities are great, and food is not bad either ..sushi restaurant is the best and the brazilian steak joint is good too ...staff is very friendly ..bartenders happily make you good drinks...this resort is popular amongst the party crowd so you will definitely have a good time if thats what your looking for ..have fun!

Very disappointed with facilities, no relaxation areas for over 40's, The food was the same & repeated throughout the various dining areas. The steak house was closed and the other eating areas were doubled up. Fly's around the buffet food which was not in covered cabinets. I actually booked the Grand Oasis Cancun 5* ajoining the Oasis Cancun & had to pay an up-grade supplemen to receive all the facilites. Would not go again.
