Oaks Oasis Resort Caloundra

We only stayed overnight, but had a two bedroom apartment to accomodate my husband, myself and my mother. The overall resort was very neat, tidy and presentable. It has a lovely pool and restaurant, however due to time constraints, we were unable to make use of these facilities. Our apartment appeared newly refurbished and tastefully decorated. there was a separate bathroom for each bedroom, the kitchen, which we made use of for breakfast, was very functional. There were a few things that were overlooked with the refurbishment. The handle to the bottom drawer in one of the bathrooms was missing and two of the drawers scrapped the wall tiles, when being opened. The slimline blinds in the kitchen didn't close down. They had been measured to fit inside the window cavity, however whoever measured up didn't take the tiling into account, hence the blinds would only go 1/2 way down. This wasn't a big privacy issue as we were located on the top floor. When checking in, the young man who allocated our room and gave us directions, directed us to the road outside, advising that we could access our room from there, to unload our bags, then park our car around the rear of the complex in the guest parking area. When following these instructions, we found that from the outside road, there was a gully then a 6 ft fence with no access to the resort. We drove around the resort to locate the front entrance to the building our apartment was in. This was a little annoying as the staff should be familiar with the lay of the resort. The resort was close to the water, 1 block away, and also close to shops, also only 1 block away. There was actually a Woolworths accross the road. As the resort was so close to the water, my husband and I made use of the fishing rods we took with us and did a bit of night fishing. We drove to a location of choice though about 5 minutes down the esplanade. On the whole, we would definately stay there again as we felt it was very good value for money. We would definately recommend this resort to others. Naturally the cost increases in peak season and during school holidays, which may not make it so attractive cost wise, however in-between peak seasons, it's very reasonable.

Unfortunately I became sick after having a spa and swim, probably due to the baby in a nappy in the spa and the toddlers in the spa and pool. Not very hygenic!!!

The staff were great from the moment we arrived, The Breakfast was great and general atmosphere was one of relaxation. Close to shops and walking distance to the beaches and fishing. The only concern was the decor in the rooms and the place in general could do with an update. (especially the rooms) The pool area was pretty crowded and I would not suggest going there if your planning a romantic get away. The screaming playing kids will get that out of your system real quick. Lots of restaurants and places to visit nearby . Shopping straight across the street, Overall well worth the money at the rate we paid. :P

We booked for only two nights, two months prior to our visit to the Sunshine coast. We were there a half hr before check in and it didn't take long before we had the 150 dollar room deposit taken out and were given our room number. However the room they were giving us was not what we booked. We were given a room with two queen beds instead of the King Spa we booked. It was even written on the booking confirmation i gave them. Receptionist even tried to palm it off as an upgrade. They tried to tell me there was a computer error. Anyway I told them I was not happy with this and they said they would call us back in ten minutes and try to rectify the situation. Anyway, an hour later we got sick of waiting for the phone call and went back to the hotel and waited. After almost another hour had passed, we finally spoke to the front desk again and they told us they were very sorry but there was nothing they could do. I told them I would like a refund. The policy of the online booking company is no refunds. After causing a scene in the lobby the manger said she would call them and see if there was something they could do. After ten minutes she came out and said a refund would be fine. After another five minutes she came out of her office and said that she could fit us in a King Spa with some shuffling around. Really?! This couldn't have been done from the start? I told her we didn't much feel like a holiday now and we would take the refund and go home. She offered us free breakfast after that which we denied. She was very apologetic, but it didn't change our experience. Booked months in advance, pre-paid and still a bad experience.

Basically as long as you have your credit card in your hand you will do ok. The staff we had contact with (very few) were friendly but disinterested no customer service. Clean room views into the managers back yard no effort at all.

Really enjoyed our stay, be it ever so short at your beautiful hotel. We were greeted by a cheery staff inspite of the fact that they were working from a temporary Reception area. We would certainly recommend the Oasis as a place to stay in Caloundra.

The hotel, amenities and location are all fantastic. Have stayed previously at hotel. The only let down was the attempt made at a buffet breakfast. It was abysmal. I understand that the restaurant had just completed renovation but to host 8 practically empty chauffeuring dishes, a silver platter with six slices of fruit, all in a cramped, less than clean meeting room does not impress at $50 a couple. Would have been better saying "no breakfast due to renovations". Apart from this, top marks!!

Dont stay here - I booked this hotel to surprise my husband on our 2nd wedding Aniversay, we walked in the resort and it looked like a government housing estate, Restaurant was under renovations, guys getting ready for a big drink up on the driveway, we went into our 1 bedroom apartment, my husband rushed to the toilet, when he returned he said we are not staying here as the whole bathroom ceiling was full of mould, the room stunk, and ther was paint missing from every wall and door, we were there for 3 minutes in all when he took the keys back, they would not refund us our money so we left loosing out on over $300 and went and found another resort same money and 5 star. I WOULDNOT RECCOMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL

Staff and rooms were great, only thing that could've made it better would be a microwave and Air-Con working more efficient.

A pretty ordinary so called resort. It has few amenities and is not much more than a dormitory motel. The place is in a bit of a mess at the moment with renovations, but apart from that their room service (clean-up) etc. will have to improve.

They are renovating the premises and should not have offered rooms for hire. The air conditioning did not work..it was recycled air and the room was extremely stuffy. The windows opened but had no screens meaning bugs flew in.On the next morning we tried three times to get reception on the phone to no avail. We then rang the restaurant and they promised to get reception to contact us.They did not so we went to see them. They promised to get the maintenance guys to fix the airconditioning and to put a power plug on the radio.Neither was done and we got no further feedback. Our second night was just as uncomfortable as the first. The information sheet in the room was applicable to other forms of accommodation and not ours. They took our money under false pretences.

We had a terrible experience. We arrived to our room (very ordinary building and room) and the toilet water was running, the shower floor was not clean, the restaurant was closed for the night, the grounds looked messy and unkept. The worse part is that there was a lot of noise, you could hear banging and clanging (we were on ground floor) and yelling. We went out to dinner and came back at 9.30 thinking and hoping everything had quietened down but no, that was not the case, the young people (a group of footballers) were kicking a ball in the foyer and above our room there was banging etc. the noise continued until about 12.15 and I had to ring reception 5 times. Never again, 4 stars is a fantasy. more like 2. If you are tolerant.

Even though the room was "cheap", the bed configuration was not what we were told, the air-conditioning was not working, there was not even a microwave in the room, and the current renovations, which were not mentioned when booking, began quite early in the morning. Overall, a disappointing experience. Despite this, I would give them another chance in a few months once the reno is done! The location is great and once it is tidied up a bit, the Resort is nice. Amenities such as supermarkets and takeaways are close and beaches are an easy stroll or short drive away.

The nice lady at check-in gave us a site map and directions to our room - which we found were impossible to follow as they lead to a construction site. We retruned to the office were she explained that she thought the workmen had gone - an explanation that didn't fit with their continued presence throughout our three day stay. That work was tiling, so it didn't cause the horrible black sludge that came from the taps in the spa bath when we first used it.

firstly,it took us awhile to locate the room as the direction given was not very clear.Secondly when we enter ed the room ,there was avery strong smell of paint work and the aircon switch was broken.we then asked for another room and instead they gave us another room which was a studio and queen size bed without a spa bath.the original booking in which have paid for suppose to be a king spa room.neverthless we have no choice but to accepted with disappointment .

The service was fine but the room was on the Southern side and was cold. I had rang and asked for a Northerly facing room with sun and they promised an upgrade. When we got there this wasn't available. Food was cheap and good quality and the location was ideal for using the walkways along the water. There were good facilities for children.
