The reception, I believe was understaffed, it showed in the receptionists face. I did feel sorry for her. We got to our room, which was well appointed however, having a queen bed but only 1 glass, 1 mug, 1 tumbler and no wine glasses (we were two) become obvious they we were put in a room mainly used for fly in fly out workers. We went to the restaruant to grab the extras. The iron was covered in singapore ants and rusty water leaking from it. Went to reception to give her the iron and request another only to confirm the Fly-in Fly-out theory. At least 10 guys waiting to check in, still the same poor receptionist. Hence a wait for iron as she said she was the only on and couldn't leave reception. No shower curtain or door, so when you shower the whole floor gets wet and becomes a slip hazard. The food was lovely in the restaurant and the barman was billiant and 'present'. I would stay here again as our comfort was fine, just the poor receptionist needed help, who was still on reception a 9.30am the next day when we checked out.

The hotel itself is nice and clean and the staff are very friendly. The local bus stop is also right next to the hotel so it's easy to access places around Broome until 6:30pm. Location of the hotel is a bit dodgy, though and I wouldn't recommend walking alone after sunset. The streets are dark due to lack of street lamps/lights. I would suggest to stay on Cable Beach since the beach is beautiful and the area seems safer.

my one and only criticism is that in the suites, the bathroom window has no blind and in the regular hotel rooms, the kitchen window has no blind and therefore, an unwelcome and significant amount of outside light shines through to the bedrooms. This really does disrupt your nights sleep

This hotel is a must for anybody staying in Broome. The location of the hotel is close to everything. Hotel staff are professional and highly focused on their customer service. Although the pool closes at dusk each night it is a great and romantic back drop to the rooms over looking the pool each night. Depending on the night of the week the resteraunt provides a theme night other then just whats on the menu.

Hotel is pretty new so still has that glossy feel. However, for a new hotel, there needs to be closer attention to detail. Firstly, arrived early an enquired about early check-in just in case. Receptionist just about laughed in my face and then promised to call me when my room was ready. She never did. Being the first time in Broome, I asked directions to town, which was met by a quizzical look from the same receptionist. Upon check-in, I discovered my room didn't have a remote control. I reported to front desk and it was several hours before it was seen to. Initially, someone appeared at my room with batteries, which was good except I didn't have the actual remote. The room I had was in a set of two with a common airlock. This is really noisy as the person next door came and went loudly really late at night. As far as cleanliness, the toilet had a rust stain on the water's edge, which made it look unclean. The base of the kettle was rusty. These are not the sorts of things you would expect from a new hotel.

Great new hotel, request a 1 bedroom unit with spa as they are in the best locations. Lovely pool areas. Dining could be better, but as we stayed in room with kitchen it didn't really matter.

Had a great time at this resort. Plenty of room in our apartment, with all the facilities you could possibly need. Fantastic pool - the kids had a swim every day.

We stayed at the hotel for three nights. I chose the location for its proximity to Town Beach and the 'staircase to the moon' and it served that purpose well. It is handy to the town bus and has a museum, supermarket and liquor outlet across the road. The hotel is near new and is well maintained. The studio room was spacious and quiet at night, the bed large and comfortable. Front desk service was so-so and our room was not serviced on the first day of our stay due to some misunderstanding. We did not utilise the restaurant. In Broome it is a toss-up as to whether to stay in the Cable Beach area or in the old Town area. Both have their advantages and in the end are only a $3.50 pleasant bus ride away from each other.

The Oaks is a well positioned hotel for those who want to be near Town beach and Old Broome. The facilities are new and modern and the staff are friendly and attentive. Transportation to Cable Beach wld make this a better venue for more travellers.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Oaks in the low (summer) season. It's a well appointed studio type hotel with great pools and close to Town beach. Rooms are well insulated and the beds are new and firm. We had a car but for those that don't, the hotel should offer a daily shuttle into Chinatown for shoppers and one out to Cable beach for beach goers. Good pricing ($139/night) during the low season.

The Oaks is a new hotel opened in May 09. It is located on the site of the old Tropicana Hotel. My Studio room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. It had resonable sized balcony also. The hotel is located on the Broome Town side and is the best property on this side. It has 2 pools with the larger pool being very nice. It is a short stroll to Town beach and Matsos brewery, and there is a liquor store across the road. It is only a short drive to town or the main shopping centre. I would recommend this hotel.
