The tidy village teems with hundreds of cruise ships from May to September, which in turn, ferry hundreds of thousands of passengers through the magnificent fjord landscapes of Geiranger. A union of sheer, precipitous cliffs and narrow, carved waterways, Geirangerfjord almost borders on the absurd: clearly, this is nature at its most dramatic. The few hotels that nestle at the head of the fjord provide a comfortable stay for visitors who want to take it all in over a few days, with all the inherent, brilliant panoramas to boot. More adventurous options to tour the contiguous landscape abound, from canoe and kayak trips to the Seven Sisters Waterfall to mountain treks to small, remote farms.
