Nomads All Nations Backpackers Melbourne Guest Reviews (1)
This is one of the worst hostels I've ever encountered, anywhere in the world. I've been pleased with Nomads' hostels in New Zealand, but found its Melbourne branch to be almost uninhabitable. First, this is clearly a "party hostel" with little regard for (gasp!) actually sleeping. If you're looking to actually, god forbid, get some rest, look elsewhere. Exacerbating the problem is that the hostel closes down its common areas by 9 PM, so almost every person in the hostel came into my 12-bed dorm to hang out, until the wee hours of the morning, disregarding the fact that a good number of us were trying to sleep. One fellow played the guitar for hours. Several staff members were among the revelers, so there was little sympathy - if you're not here to party, you're not respected. The staff were rude, surly, and all-around disappointing human beings. I only slept here one night out of the three I booked, and I'm glad I left - quite literally, you might find better accommodations in the slums of Mexico than you'll find here. That said, rooms and bathrooms were filthy, dusty, and incredibly rank.
