We enjoyed our stay, the staff were very plesant. Breakfast was very good. Our only disapointment was we booked a smoking room with [your website] but the hotel had no smoking rooms.

Dated hotel, single glazing to the rooms which leads to noise problems with our particular room over looking a main road into York. Good sized rooms with lovely tall ceilings inc hairdryer, trouser press tea/coffe & plenty of biscuits. There was a small pool with towels available & a chargeable sauna. aprox 15 min walk into York or buses available outside the hotel. If you stay here ask for a room if possible away from the main road.

Very helpful and courteous staff. Did not have an evening meal but the breakfast the following morning was varied, cooked nicely and cooked to order. Good fresh coffee. The room was clean and the bed comfortable.

The Hotel has over 300 rooms, this is only been possible by halving the roomspace in most rooms. The rooms at the 3rd floor are only reached by an extremely steep staircase with narrow steps and at the top, opening the door to the corridor shut one of the rooms off, surely a health & safety risk. the floorboards all over the hotel need screwed down and only 1/2 slice of black pudding at breakfast!!! Price of drinks also rip-off.

No wireless internet (or broadband) facility. This is becoming a standard requirement in this day and age! The staff were so very friendly and helpful and even let me use their garage for my bike!

This is an "old style" hotel, which we liked as part of our holiday trip through UK. The only weird think was that it there was no way to get Internet access anywhere in the near1 mile ... :-( I had to send an important mail through BTOpenZone from a restaurant The breakfast was nice, but you have to ask for strong coffee, otherwise you get really nasty brown boiled water Apart from this, everything was OK

The furniture was very dated (60s-70s feeling, but not in a nice way), they should invest in refurbishment!!! The en-suite facility was very strange, as it was not a proper bathroom, but a toilet and a separate shower cabin next to the entrance door (I guess there used to be a wardrobe there...). Bearing these in mind, the place is massively overpriced in my opinion. Apart from this the staff are very nice and kind.

The room was very small & had not been vacumed. People before us had smoked & the room smelt. A plug-in was on full blast which smelt worse. The room was freezing as there was no heating on. The radiator valve was stuck, when we put the heating on it, we fixed it. The stairs to the room were so steep and narro,. When next door came to bed we thought they were crashing into our room as the space between us was so small, it woke us up. The swimming pool had no place around it to change or even to hang a towell. To use it we would have had to change in our room at the coach house, walk across the carpark in the freezing cold. The sauna was far from the pool on a different floor so to use both meant walking through the reception area half clothed. The breakfast suasages were horrible. The barman was very nice but when we left the receptionist just took the key and didn't ask if we had enjoyed our stay or wish us a safe journey, she didn't say anything to us at all.

The whole hotel could do with updating and modernising as the decor and fittings are very old and worn looking. However, saying that, the hotel service and staff are excellent.

The hotel was very much over priced for the standard of the room. I would not recommend staying at this hotel as the room was filthy, there were beatles in the bathroom, cobwebs on the windows, it was dusty and just generally dirty. If the rooms are like that I dread to think what the kitchens are like when they are cooking food.
