Wanganui Climate
Summers are dry and warm with temperatures around 64°F to 86°F (18° to 30°C). During the mild winter months, temperatures are between 39°F to 57°F (4°C to 14° C). Due to its unique location, Waganui is generally spared from bad weather; the climate in the city is typically comfortable, with more than 2,000 hours of sunshine annually.
Getting There & Around
The Wanganui Airport handles only domestic flights from Wellington and Auckland. By train, the nearest rail station with passenger service operates out of Marton, which is about 40 minutes away.
A mixture of walking and riding buses is the best way to get around the city. The buses depart from the Maria Place Extension about every hour. There are also taxis in the city for travelling farther distances.
