Twizel Climate
Temperatures in the Mt Cook-Mackenzie Basin region change with the seasons. During spring and autumn, temperatures range between 27°F (-3°C) and 75°F (24°C). Summer days are warm with temperatures of 86°F (30°C), while winter is cooler with temperatures of 20°F to 60°F (-7°C to 16°C).
Getting There & Around
Flights to Twizel arrive at the Queenstown Airport. With the airport about hour or so away, visitors can take shuttles, buses or hired cars to town. Most buses and shuttles have links to other towns and cities such as Alexandria and Dunedin.
To get about town, one can bike, walk, take a car or even ferry to the North Island. With so many walking and cycle paths, visitors find these types of transportation the most convenient, as well as scenic.
