Turangi Climate
Turangi experiences comfortable temperatures all year. During winter, June through August, the temperatures are a cool 53°F (12°C); the seasons tend to blend during the remainder of the year, with temperatures ranging between 66°F (19°C) and 73°F (23°C). Average annual rainfall is 43 inches (1,092 mm), mostly occurring July through December.
Getting There & Around
The area is served by the Taupo Airport, with flights coming in from Auckland and Wellington. State highways 1 and 5 and the Thermal Explorer Highway get visitors to town by hired car. There are also buses that travel to Turangi.
InterCity, Newmans and Naked Bus operate daily bus routes to get visitors about the region. Many find that walking and cycling in town is an easy way to get about. There are tour coaches as well that take visitors to attractions.
