Delve into the largest pyramid in the Southern Hemisphere and discover some fascinating local history in the Southland Museum and Art Gallery. Wander through the flowers – from native plants to a Japanese garden – in the sprawling city-central Queens Park, or take a stroll down to Sandy Pointand see if you can find where the bootleg rum was made from cabbage trees around 150 years ago! Invercargill has a reputation for being cold and bleak – especially when the wind blows – but the welcome you’ll receive combined with spectacularly wild scenery will provide enough warm fuzzies to keep you going.
