The Hokianga area has a subtropical climate with warm, humid weather. February is the warmest month with average temperatures around 26ºC. The best times to visit are in the spring and fall, when the temperatures are pleasantly mild.
Getting There & Around
Many people get to the region by car, but there are a few domestic airports nearby, including Whangarei Airport and Kerikeri Airport. The nearest international airport is in Auckland, about three hours away.
There is no public transportation in Hokianga. An enjoyable way to see the area is to travel the coastline by boat. It’s an area frozen in time that is best explored by taking the time to enjoy the experience, rather than rushing from one place to another.« Hide
