Gisborne Climate
The Eastland Region is sheltered by high countryside on the west, resulting in a dry climate with nearly 2,200 hours of sunshine yearly. November through March are the warmest month at 76°F (24°C), but almost any time is good for visiting. Annual rainfall for the area is 39 inches (991 mm) near the coast and over 98 inches (2,490 mm) inland toward higher elevations.
Getting There & Around
The best way to get to Gisborne is to fly to Gisborne Airport from Auckland or Wellington Airports. Ground transportation from the airports includes hired vehicles and taxis.
Many visitors drive into the area and use their cars to get about. Gladstone Road is the city’s main road and is linked to State 35. Getting around the city is usually done by walking, cycling and bus tours.
