Linwood is an ethnically diverse inner city suburb, located right on the eastern edge of Christchurch Central City in New Zealand. Once home to wetlands with many rivers and streams, the area was used by the Māori for food gathering and hunting of grey duck, paradise shelduck, flounder, and lamprey eel. Linwood was established in 1850 and was one of Christchurch’s first residential developments. From the Christchurch International Airport, visitors can get to Linwood by shuttle, taxi, or rental car. The journey is approximately 14 kilometres and takes roughly half an hour along either Memorial Avenue, Wairakei Road, or Harewood Road. Shuttles can be found at the Regional Transport Hub in the northern end of the International Arrivals Hall.
