  • Browse the monthly market at the Linwood Community Arts Centre, held on the third Thursday morning of each month, to find interesting souvenirs, or stop by the Centre to see unique art exhibitions by local Christchurch artists.
  • Take a walk along the Avon River—east to Christchurch’s Cathedral Square or west to the estuary—and see lovely gardens, plant and animal life, and many punters.
  • Check out a local rugby match in the many parks that dot the community, such as Linwood Park and Bromley Park.

Getting There

From the Christchurch International Airport, visitors can get to Linwood by shuttle, taxi, or rental car. The journey is approximately 14 kilometres and takes roughly half an hour along either Memorial Avenue, Wairakei Road, or Harewood Road. Shuttles can be found at the Regional Transport Hub in the northern end of the International Arrivals Hall. The grid pattern of Linwood makes the community easy to explore, and it is about a five-minute drive from the centre of Christchurch. The community is also a short drive to the beach.
